Marathon cheering and more in-person events in Highland Park
View this email in your browser (https://mailchi.mp/f13100410962/marathon-cheering-and-more-in-person-events-...) Logo Hello Neighbors! As I write this, the snow is blowing around outside and cold drafts are seeping in from my windows, so it’s hard to believe that spring really is right around the corner! With an end coming to winter hibernation and (hopefully) a continued decline in the prevalence of COVID, the HPCC is happy to start planning spring and summer events. Welcome back old favorites and say hello to the new playground: * Marathon Cheering Party: May 1 * Parklet Spring Cleanup: May 14 * Highland Park Yard Sale: June 5 (info on registering will be available in April) * Super Playground Reopening: TBA, but hopefully in June Also starting soon (most likely in April), most of Reservoir Drive will be closed to cars for at least eight months due to the restoration of the historic stone bridge. The public will still be able to drive from the park entrance to Connecting Road, and the parking lot across from Connecting Road will be open for accessible parking. The rest of Reservoir Drive will only be open to official vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. Pedestrians and cyclists will have to use a new, temporary trail between Reservoir Drive and the Ginkgo Trail to get past the bridge. Official vehicles will have to turn around at the bridge and exit against the usual flow of traffic, so pedestrians and cyclists on the road should stay alert. Details about this project and project updates are available on the city’s website (https://hpccpgh.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ed770e831682d049448ee942c&id=4e067eaedb&e=eb0bdabb3c) . Sending warm wishes - Stephanie ** Submit your photos to the #LastSlide Project ------------------------------------------------------------ As many of you know, our beloved Highland Park Super Playground will go through a lot of changes very soon. While the new brings with it a great deal of excitement, it also strikes a bittersweet chord with the many Highland Parkers who were involved in its construction and/or have fond memories of playing at the Super Playground over the years. To commemorate the past before celebrating the new, we have created the #LastSlide project to collect pictures, both past and present, of the Super Playground and the fond memories that accompany them. If you would like to participate, please send your pictures to hpccspecialprojects@gmail.com (mailto:hpccspecialprojects@gmail.com) and once compiled, we will include them in a future newsletter. We invite you to enjoy one more visit to the current playground and we look forward to seeing all the memories that make up the #LastSlide project. The event will be followed by a jazz concert inside the church (attendees are asked to wear masks). The event is free and St. Andrews invites all to attend. Then on Easter Sunday (April 17), families are welcome to attend Easter services at 10 a.m. and stay after for an Easter Egg Hunt on the church lawn. Or just come to the Easter Egg Hunt. Mark your calendars now for the return of Jazz on the church lawn on May 7.
