The other is Urban EcoSteward training. If you are interested in finding out more about what types of trees and herbs to plant and how to keep them alive, you should attend. Not only did the event raise valuable funds for the parks, but our creatively costumed guests saw Schenley Plaza in a whole new light. You can see for yourself by checking out the photos. Now aren't you already thinking about how you can take the top prize in next year's costume contest? Calling all budding shutterbugs... As our partnership with CMU's Entertainment Technology Center to envision the Playground of the Future continues, we're looking for families to come out to Frick Park this Saturday, November 8, to participate in a Photo Scavenger Hunt. Kids and parents are invited to the park's Blue Slide Playground (at Beechwood Blvd. and Nicholson St.) at 1:00 p.m. to go on a search to photograph things found in nature. This event is free--bring your digital camera or borrow one of ours! RSVPs are appreciated at 412-268-3811. Catch a free lecture at the Schenley Park Visitor Center The UPMC Health Plan Healthy Living Lecture Series continues at the Schenley Park Visitor Center, and you still have two more weeks to take advantage of these great free programs. Tomorrow at noon, learn about current pharmacy topics with Chronis Manolis, RPh. Next week, the series concludes with a discussion of stress with Rose Gantner, Ed.D. Visit our website for more information. Learn how to plant the next generation of trees Pittsburgh is beginning some major tree-planting initiatives, with many opportunities for you to get involved. (Just check out Friends of the Pittsburgh Urban Forest's website for a sampling of upcoming planting dates.) Here at the Parks Conservancy, you can learn how to successfully plant trees and herbs at this Saturday, November 8's Urban EcoSteward training.
