[Highland Park] Car Break-in
On Saturday night/Sunday morning between midnight and 7 am our car was ransacked. Only thing missing was small change. There was nothing visible or of value in the car. This happened several times last year but the door locks were pried out. I hope it is not starting again. We thought the doors were locked, but now we are questioning ourselves. Does someone walk through the neighborhood and try to open car doors hoping to find an unlocked door? If it was unlocked, then it would be the first time it was ever left unlocked, and then coincidentally the car was ransacked. Heberton Street
Ours was broken into as well, unlocked too. They stole my young daughters backpack, but dumped the contents. They rummaged through the van pretty thoroughly. Make sure you file a report to alert the police. I don't know what good it does, but it is better than nothing. You can report it via this link if you don't want to call the police: http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/police/html/police_tip_form.html We live on Winterton too. This happened to us on Heberton awhile back too. My neighbor witnessed it happening so she clicked her car door remote & it caused the guy to move along. Definitely keep your eyes open & call the police if you see something, but something as simple as keeping porch lights on at night helps eliminate the cover to do this unnoticed.
