[Highland Park] Fwd: New Citizen Alert
Hi Neighbors! At the police commander's suggestion in her recent e-mail to all of us, I signed up this morning for e-mail alerts on the Citizen Observer web site. One of the first e-mails that I got is below, and it includes valuable information for those of us who see something suspicious/fishy/odd on the streets of our neighborhood and don't know what to do about it. While waiting for my children's bus during the warmer months, I saw some unusual things that looked like possible drug activity. But I wasn't sure what to do, and it didn't seem to warrant a 911 call -- particularly because I was worried that I might be wrong in my assumptions. It helps to know that there are non-emergency numbers to call to let the police know about what we see in case they think that it warrants stepped-up patrols on certain blocks or more investigation. Also, in general this Citizen Observer alert system seems to be a good resource for those of us interested in keeping our neighborhood safe!
