The ramp will be closed at 8 p.m. on Monday and will remain closed through July 2011. The closure is necessary to allow crews to prepare Route 28 for new traffic patterns scheduled to begin in early November. Signs will be posted to guide motorists during the closure. Northbound Route 28 access to 40th Street Bridge Posted Detour: * Make right on the 31st Street Bridge * Left onto Penn Avenue * Follow Penn Avenue to Butler Street * Continue on Butler Street through Lawrenceville * Access intersection with the 40th Street Bridge PennDOT is also advising motorists lane closures will continue in both directions on Route 28 in the area of the Millvale interchange weeknights, Nov. 1-13, weather permitting. Various lane closures will occur from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Restrictions may also occur on Maryland Avenue in Millvale. Motorists should be prepared for changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area. The $23.5 million Route 28 East Ohio Street Improvement Project 40th Street Bridge work includes widening and reconstruction, drainage, concrete barrier, concrete curb and sidewalk, highway lighting, signing and pavement marking, sign structures, signals and ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) installation, wall construction, water line and sewer relocation, demolition, and other construction from about 1,300 feet north of the 31st Street Bridge (Route 2122) intersection to approximately 2,560 feet north of the 40th Street Bridge (Route 2124) interchange. The Trumbull Corporation of Pittsburgh is the prime contractor.
