[Highland Park] NatureLAB Garden Build Day A Great Success
Our Garden Build Day was a great success thanks to some rugged Highland Park community members who joined many from other communities such as Friendship, Point Breeze, Garfield, and some from as far as Indiana, Pa. With the joint effort of over 25 people who joined us throughout the day, we managed to turn an overgrown lot into four raised beds (vegetable, butterfly, American Indian, and rainbow gardens), three trellises, and a perennial mound. Now, NatureLAB children will have a working laboratory for learning science concepts in the fall. Look for pictures soon on our website (www.educationinnovations.org) as well as the Highland Park website. A big THANK YOU the organizations (and individuals) that donated (or gave a respectable discount for)tools, plants, food, soil amendments, and money: Food Glorious Food, Fox Chapel Garden Club, Home Depot, Busy Beaver, gardenalia, Paul Lumber and Supply Co., Tazza D'Oro, Sestilli Nursery, Mrs. Carol Tanweer, Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, and Anissa Tanweer. (Our sincerest apologies if we missed any of you!) For questions about our services or NatureLAB, contact us at 412.363.7707.
