Hello, I received your email from Jay Gilmer at Public Safety. Typically, when a contractor is doing the job, they also obtain the permits. If your contractor is not getting the permit, you can apply. The following directions are for a single family home in which you live. If it is a rental property or more than 2-family, other requirements apply. To obtain a roof permit, you must come to the Zoning Department at 200 Ross Street 3rd floor. You do not need any paperwork for this step. Once zoning approves your application, you must bring their paperwork to the PLI offices across the hall with a completed building permit application. You can find more info here.<http://pittsburghpa.gov/pli/residential-permits/building-permit.html> To obtain a dumpster permit, you must go to 611 Second Avenue.
