New Horizon Theater Presents Don Glenn Wilsons American Menu Directed by Eileen J. Morris American Menu is an examination of the civil rights issues of the 60s. Five African-American women working in the back kitchen of a segregated diner in 1968 represent the chaotic lives led by so many during this period of American history one month following the death of Martin Luther King and one month before the assassination of Robert Kennedy. Reflective, and often spirited, interchanges a month those females take place. The sometimes grouchy boss of the kitchen crew has worked there for 25 years. She is boss over feisty, stubborn, hothead Johnnie May; Martha, who has lots of kids; Buella, who is seen by the others as privileged; and troubled Mary. East Liberty Presbyterian Church Presents "Honeyboy" Edwards, Louisana Red and Michael Frank in a Living Legend Blues Concert "Honeyboy" Edwards - guitarist and County Blues singer, has been playing traditional and unadulterated Mississippi Delta blues since the age of 14. The New York Times calls Edwards one of the "the last authentic performers in blues idiom..." Louisana Red - A career spanning more than half a century, has played with blues artists including B.B.King and Muddy Water; exhibits the same intensity whether playing for 10,000 at a festival or 100 in a intimate club. Michael Frank - an harmonica ace, a hot vintage blues player, and president of Chicago's legendary Earwig blues record label. Event benefits the performing arts and music programs of Hope Academy of Music and the Arts.
