Neighbors, I am organzing an effort with Rick Swartz from Bloomfield-Garfield Corp. to provide financial assistance to families that are in dire need. Rick was an important advisor when I first organized the Highland Park CDC in 1993, and, most importantly, is an intense advocate for the less fortunate. Rick works daily with families that face significant challenges. He has already identified a family that needs help to avoid eviction. The matriarch of the family is battling cancer that caused her to have to quit work. Yet, she is still trying to provide for an adult brother, niece and nephew whose mother recently passed.
