Re: [Highland Park] Reynolds on Bryant?
We dropped in last weekend for a meal but did not stay. We were ushered unceremoniously to the basement even though the upstairs room was empty. Apparently, the upstairs room is reserved for parties but it appears to be the better of the two dining areas. Why not let folks eat there unless there is a party going on ....... However; I digress, what put both of us off and made us leave was the 'aroma' in the basement. It could generously be described as fetid and was most unappealing. The evening was not a total disaster as we tried La Casa for tapas at 5882 Elsworth and loved it so much we stayed for four hours. Bruce In a message dated 22/02/2007 9:35:53 A.M. Does anyone know anything about the new restaurant, Reynolds on Bryant? We are curious about the type of food, atmosphere, price range, etc. and have not seen any ads or news about the place. I thought someone on the list might know something and be willing to share.
My wife & I ate during the first week they were open. The food was pretty good. The atmosphere was about the same as when it was the Indian restaurant--you have to go downstairs to eat and there weren't a lot of people there. But it's a new restaurant so I'm sure they would appreciate it if folks checked it out to fix that second problem :) The prices were fair. They have menus out front which you could check out. The selection seemed good but I'm no gourmet :) I'd say to check them out. TWe should support Bryant Street businesses! Rudy -- <http://www.highlandpark.pgh.pa.us/mailman/listinfo/neighborhood>
Friday night we had dinner at the new restaurant -- a very extensive menu, "higher cuisine" than typical American, with some Indian offerings. We ordered prime rib, fries, soup; beef curry with basmati rice, Greek salad... The food was excellent (GREAT fries, wonderful salad), the service prompt and conscientious. It's now a BYOB, which we didn't know, or maybe we would have done so. Small corking fee, typical. The chef came to our table to explain that two waiters had canceled in the late afternoon due to accidents - his last minute replacement was a very nice young woman who needed a little coaching, but promptly, courteously and apologetically brought whatever she had forgotten, if we requested it of her. I wouldn't quibble about upstairs/downstairs seating, personally. If you have difficulty with stairs, you could probably sit upstairs - maybe call ahead to make sure. And finally, we didn't notice any unpleasant smells! ?? Overall, we had a pleasant meal, plenty of good food to eat -- pleasant background music, and at a reasonable price. Wish we had had room for the luscious desserts... We will definitely return! Larry and Claudia K. (Kim) Viehland 1401 N. Negley Avenue (H) 412-362-0220/cell 498-0226
