[Highland Park] Bagpipes in the Morning
Yes indeed, this coming Sunday morning, November 23, the sound of Pipe and Drum will echo through this end of our Highland Park neighborhood, as the well-known Syria Highlanders join us to celebrate our observance of the Feast of St. Andrew the Apostle--the patronal festival of our St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. The Highlanders will, weather permitting, play a pre-service recital in the Churchyard on Hampton Street beginning at around 10:45. Then they will lead a grand procession into the church, where there will be more piping and drumming, much singing, and much celebration. All are invited to join us for the celebration, of course--or simply to come on over to see the Pipers in the Churchyard, or simply to enjoy the wonderful music of the heritage of Scotland as you would hear it in the distance while enjoying your morning coffee at home. It will be the 171st St. Andrew's Day observance since the founding of this parish in 1837, and the 102nd here in the Highland Park neighborhood . . .
