As some of you may be aware, TreeVitalize supports street tree, park and riverfront trail plantings in the region. The application process for Fall 2012 TreeVitalize plantings is now open for communities in the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. Any property owner can submit an application, but the more applications submitted for a single street, the greater the likelihood the City can fill the requests: multiple requests on one street are easier for them to fill because it simplifies the work in digging holes, delivering mulch and trees, and coordinating planting volunteers. Some neighbors and I are coordinating a request for the 700 through 1300 blocks of Sheridan Ave. Over the past few days, we delivered information on tree planting to homes that have space for a street tree on these blocks and on cross streets near their intersection with Sheridan. If you live on these blocks and would like a street tree, please fill out an application and return it to me by March 18 (if we missed you or you misplaced the application we left, use the link below). Or, you can call me and I can bring over an application and/or pick up an application. We've gotten a good response so far, but the more we get the greater the chance of getting the trees - so please apply!
