On Thursday I wrote:
The Citparks Special Events office, which runs the Reservoir of Jazz, is to be closed. There will be two more events, on the 10th and the 17th, but the remaining two have been canceled according to Kevin Amos, program coordinator of that office.
At today's Reservoir of Jazz concert, Kevin Amos announced that the canceled events have been "uncanceled"--we will have the full Reservoir of Jazz schedule as originally planned. The remaining concerts are: August 17 "Family Day" - Jazz Workshop, Inc. August 24 "Latin Jazz Day" - Kenia; Azucar August 31 "Labor Day Finale" - Big Fat Jazz; Eric Johnson Of course, many other events that had been planned around the city by the Citiparks Special Events office, including the Great Race, are still canceled because the office is closing on August 15.
Obviously, the effects of the budget crisis will be felt throughout the city. I have no information on other changes that will affect our neighborhood at this time.
This remains the case. Citiparks representatives implored those attending today's Reservoir of Jazz concert to write to their government officials to resolve the current funding crisis. Rudy
