Hi, Brett here from the 900 Block of Mellon Street. A while ago a number of you good folks started including our poor drug and delinquant addled block of paradise in your walks, or even regular routes. I want to thank you all again, and to let you know that it does seem to be showing positive results. The more these few blocks are used as a public thoroughfare, the less the more predatory types seem to like it. One of the main reasons I wanted to move to Highland Park was its astonishing and varied collection of fine architecture. We are surrounded by it, and it deeply troubles me that many of us are missing some of it, simply because of some of the streets we have to traverse to find it. The CDC have a number of great properties awaiting renovation, and clearly this is in strong part, a plan to help renovate a troubled corner of our neighbourhood. However; I suspect this is a little chicken and egg problem, where the neighbourhood needs to, in part; renovate itself, to make these larger renovations, and their final sales: Practical. In other words; Please keep up the good work, and encourage your friends and neighbours to do the same....c'mon; you know you've been meaning to talk to them about that spare tyre, and set of love handles they've collected, help 'em out.
