We have hosted a Japanese student for three years this via this program and have had a wonderful experience! Last summer my daughter and I had the opportunity to visit Japan and spend time with the students we hosted, their families, and friends. We also hosted a Korean student earlier this year and had a very rewarding month with her. If you have the space, I highly recommend hosting a student. If you have any questions about hosting, I’d be happy to answer. Sarah

Dear members –
Some of you who are hosting international visitors for our organization might have received this message already. Some of you do not have an opportunity to host international visitors in your homes. However, I wanted to reach out to you with our many exciting hosting opportunities so that you could spread the word to your family, friends and colleagues. Among many benefits, hosting is an excellent opportunity to broaden one’s horizons and a unique chance for children and adults to make friends with someone from another country. We provide compensation for hosting international visitors.
Currently, we at GlobalPittsburgh are recruiting host families for the following opportunities:
Dates corrected. GlobalPittsburgh is looking for the host families for 12 university students from Saudi Arabia for the weekend of Friday evening, July 12 through noon on Sunday afternoon, July 14. GlobalPittsburgh will be participating in the Saudi Young Leaders Exchange Program for the 6h year. The students (6 male and 6 female) are between the ages of 21 and 24. The students will be in Pittsburgh for 5 days prior to the homestay participating in a program that will focus on health and wellness. The compensation is $50 per each student. The student will be enthusiastic about visiting museums and cultural outings, exploring the city, and seeing how Americans live. We will be taking the group to Phipps for their final lunch on the afternoon of July 14. We are able to reimburse hosts up to $20 per student for any costs they incur for their guests attending cultural events or activities. The homestay experience has been a memorable one for many of our past SYLEP participants. The student speaks English fluently. Some students prefer that their hosts not have dogs or cats. The majority of participants this year are medical students.
July 21 – August 18 – hosts for the 43 Korean teachers of English needed. Some of them have already been placed. The hosts would live on the direct but to Oakland. Hosts to can host multiple people (two and three) are encouraged to reply. I would consider Airbnb properties as well if the hosts are willing to provide meals. Compensation for hosting is $750/month per person ($700 prorated to the number of days they are staying at the hosts’ homes) with breakfast, dinner and a given opportunity to pack lunch from home. The trainees will be away for 2 weekends during their stay.
July 28 – August 24 - hosts needed for the 30 Chinese college students who will be coming to Pittsburgh through Chatham University for the summer camp program. Hosts would live on the bus line. Hosts can host multiple students and they can share a room. Compensation will be $660/month with breakfast and dinner.
August 24 – January 19, 2010 – hosts interested in hosting Yasuda students are encouraged to respond. This will be our 4th year hosting the Japanese female. The hosts would live on the bus line to Oakland and provide breakfast, dinner and an opportunity for a student to pack lunch. There should be no male students in the house. Compensation will be $750/month.
Please share this with your family, friends, and colleagues. I will follow up with each of them as we have a new hosts application process that includes submitting a form and my visit and orientation. The form could be found here: https://forms.gle/kQv9NAQDUL8LoeZE9
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!
