Addition to house

I’m curious if anyone in the neighborhood has completed a two-story addition to their house recently? I’ve been trying to get quotes from contractors and the numbers are comically high. Just asking to see if anybody has advice, recommendations, or willing to share how much you paid for an addition. My quotes have ranged from $350k-$700k. Thanks, Andrew
