Hey, HPers! Many of you know that, for the last three years, I've been doing the Polar Bear Plunge to raise money for Jeremiah's Place. In that time, I (and a few unlucky souls I recruited over the last two years), have raised around $12,000. Unfortunately, I had to have some major ankle surgery on November 17th, so it would be dangerous and foolish to attempt the Plunge this year. (Even MORE foolish and dangerous than usual...) 😔 Even though I can't jump, I was hoping to still raise funds for the cause. Jeremiah's Place is a crisis/relief nursery right here in good old 15206. They provide 24/7/365 care for children whose families are in crisis. A family crisis may be that one parent is hospitalized, or the heat isn't working in a home with an infant. It could be someone new to the area who doesn't have a support system but and has a job interview. Or it could just be a Mom or Dad who is exhausted and frustrated and needs to take a break to regain perspective and energy. Check them out at: http://www.JeremiahsPlace.org Now, I know from past years how generous my fellow Highland Parkers are. I'd like to ask folks to please donate anyway. It's TOTALLY tax deductible. You can donate via the website listed above or by sending a check or money order to: Jeremiah's Place 6435 Frankstown Avenue Pittsburgh, PA. 15206. I'd appreciate it if, no matter how you donate, you make a note that it's for the Polar Bear Plunge. It'll make me feel good to know I'm still able to help Thanks, everyone. Happy New Year! Rachel (the Plant Lady)
