*Pictured Above:* Officers from Zones 2 and 5 stopped by Children's Hospital on Thursday to visit Josh, a young man who is in town receiving care related to a rare illness. We found out that Josh loves all things police-related, so we decided to take him a cake and balloons after his surgery, to help cheer him up!

*Homewood / East Hills* *6/10/19 Robbery (Domestic) - Hamilton Avenue & N. Dallas Avenue, 12:00 PM.* A 28 year-old female victim reported that her boyfriend, *Michael Wheeler, 30, of Wilkinsburg,* assaulted her and snatched her cell phone out of her hand following a verbal dispute while driving. According to the victim, Wheeler punched her, then threw her 11 year-old daughter to the ground after her daughter tried to intervene. Wheeler fled the scene with the victim's phone and car keys. Officers have already obtained an arrest warrant for Wheeler. (112751)
*6/12/19 Shots Fired - 500 block Oakwood Street, 5:26 PM. *Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert and arrived to find a witness who indicated that the occupants of a tan vehicle driving along Oakwood Street had just fired shots at two men on the street. According to the witness, the two men then pulled guns and returned fired. Nobody was injured in the incident but a parked vehicle was struck by gunfire. The tan vehicle and the two men on the sidewalk both fled the scene before police arrived. (114544)
*Larimer / Lincoln-Lemington* *6/10/19 Aggravated Assault (Shooting) - 400 block Larimer Avenue, 4:30 PM. *Officers responded to a call for shots fired and arrived to find a 24 year-old male victim and a 19 year-old female victim, both of whom sustained gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a trauma center by PGH EMS, where both were listed in stable condition. Witnesses indicated that a black male, 6'1" tall, 230 Lbs, wearing a gray shirt, walked up to a group of people on Larimer Avenue and began shooting. Major Crimes detectives are working this case. *6/11/19 Robbery / Strangulation (Domestic) - 7175 Highland Drive (Pittsburgh Job Corps), 5:35 PM.* A 17 year-old female victim reported that a known acquaintance, *Rickey Loewe, 19, of Penn Hills,* pulled her into a stairwell, pinned her against a wall, and forcibly remove a ring from her finger. Loewe then placed his arms around the victim's neck and forced her to the ground, where he slapped her in the face. Officers viewed surveillance video which confirmed the victim's account of events. Loewe resides at Job Corps and he was taken into custody without incident. (113770)
*Bloomfield / Garfield / Friendship* *6/13/19 Theft from Vehicle - 400 block Sapphire Way.* Victim reported that a laptop computer and credit card were stolen out of her Chevy Equinox. No damage noted to the car. (115831)
*6/14/19 Theft from Vehicle - 4400 block Howley Street. *Victim reported that a ring was stolen out of the glove box of his Honda CRV. No damage noted to the car. (116574)
*6/15/19 Theft from Vehicle - 400 block Orwell Street.* Victim reported that her vehicle registration card and a charging cord were taken out of her unlocked Kia Forte. (117532)
*6/16/19 Carjacking -Taylor Street & Idaline Street, 2:55 PM.* A 63 year-old female victim reported that her car was having issues so she pulled over at the intersection of Taylor & Idaline Streets, with her 95 year-old passenger in the car. A white male, 5'10"- 6'0" tall, 40-50 years old, wearing a blue baseball cap, black shirt, blue jeans, unshaven, with heavily tattooed arms, approached and offered to help. After several minutes the male jumped in her car, a 2007 blue Nissan Altima (PA plate GRD-7552) and sped away with the elderly female still in the car. The passenger was eventually able to get out of the car, but the suspect continued fleeing in the vehicle. The passenger was treated at the hospital for bumps and bruises. Detectives are investigating. (117500)
*East Liberty / Highland Park*
*6/10/19 Robbery / Stolen Vehicle - 123 N. Highland Avenue (Hotel Indigo), 6:12 AM.* Officers responded to a report of an attempted robbery at the Hotel Indigo. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male, later identified as *Vinney Stevenson, 31, (unknown address),* accosted the front desk staff, repeatedly asking one of the desk agents to make change. A female staff member advised Stevenson that they do not keep money behind the counter, at which point he made a motion like he had a gun (although no gun was seen) and threatened to "bust her in the head." Stevenson then went outside to the parking attendant and presented a valet slip for a BMW X3. Stevenson then drove off in the BMW. Through their investigation, officers were able to make contact with the actual owner of the BMW, who was a hotel guest, in town for business. She indicated that she never gave anyone permission to use her vehicle, and Stevenson must have stolen her valet ticket. On 6/12/19, officers were sent to the area of 5th Avenue & Hamilton Avenue to check on a report of a stolen BMW in the area. A K-9 team located the stolen BMW on Brushton Avenue and engaged Stevenson in a foot pursuit. Stevenson was fast, but not *that* fast. Our officers were able to apprehend him in the 7400 block of Frankstown Avenue, at which point he put crack cocaine and heroin in his mouth and began to destroy the evidence by swallowing it. Officers attempted to remove the drugs from Stevenson's mouth, but were unsuccessful. Paramedics were called to the scene as Stevenson began exhibiting signs of an overdose. Officers administered Narcan and paramedics took Stevenson to UPMC Mercy for treatment. Following treatment, Stevenson was taken to the Allegheny County Jail, where officers learned that Stevenson was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for Burglary. (112591)
*6/11/19 Robbery - 6022 Penn Avenue (Subway), 8:28 AM. *Officers were dispatched to the Subway sandwich shop for a robbery and learned that the business had been robbed by a black male, dark complexion, 25-35 years-old, 5'8" 160 Lbs, with scruffy facial hair, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants. Nobody was injured during the robbery. The suspect fled on foot. (113396)
*Morningside / Stanton Heights / Waterworks* *6/10/19 Attempted Burglary - 800 block Oranmore Street. *Victim arrived home from work to find a screen in her dining room window had been sliced and muddy hand prints were on several windows. It does not appear that the would-be burglar was able to make entry. Nothing was missing from the residence. *This Week's Notable Arrests*
*6/11/19 3:31 PM 514 N. Highland Avenue (Sunoco) Arrestee: Walter William Ferguson, 30, Unknown address Summary: *Ferguson is currently on parole, stemming from a conviction for Aggravated Assault. Within the past week, Zone 5 officers and detectives were made aware that he cut off the ankle monitor that he had been ordered to wear by the PA State Board of Probation & Parole, and there was a warrant out for his arrest for the violation. On 6/8/19, an additional warrant was obtained for Ferguson after it was alleged that he stole a phone from a family member at gunpoint, and threatened to kill his cousin and her children. On 6/10/19, officers encountered Ferguson driving a burgundy Hyundai Sonata in the area of Robinson Boulevard & Laketon Road. As soon as Ferguson spotted officers, he took off at a high rate of speed, driving over the sidewalk to get away. Because of the danger posed to the public, officers chose not to purse Ferguson at that time. An additional warrant was obtained for his arrest stemming from that incident. On 6/11/19, plainclothes officers spotted Ferguson when he pulled into the Sunoco gas station adjacent to the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Officers were able to quickly take him into custody at the gas station, before he had a chance to flee again. (112851 / 111597)
*6/12/19 10:37 AM N. Highland Avenue & Broad Street Arrestee: Tyrese J. Jackson, 18, of Larimer Summary:* Officer Clarence Ford was on patrol in East Liberty when he encountered a 2014 gold Jeep Cherokee in traffic at the intersection of N. Highland Avenue & Broad Street. Ford and fellow officers were aware that a gold Jeep Grand Cherokee had recently been stolen out of Zone 4, and were further informed that this vehicle may possibly be involved in a number of armed robberies outside of the city. Officer Ford pulled behind the vehicle and was able to confirm that the license plate matched that of the stolen vehicle. The driver, Tyrese Jackson, fled from Officer Ford. A short pursuit ensued but ended when Jackson was involved in a minor collision with a police vehicle. Jackson attempted to exit the vehicle and flee, but officers already had the vehicle surrounded and quickly took Jackson into custody. He was charged with Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, and Fleeing & Eluding. The following day, Allegheny County Police charged Jackson with Robbery for the incidents that occurred outside of the City of Pittsburgh. (114252)
*6/12/19 7:30 PM 1200 block Nolan Court Arrestee: Juvenile male, 17, of Turtle Creek Summary: *Zone 5 plainclothes officers were patrolling Nolan Court when they saw five teens in a black Dodge Magnum, smoking marijuana. The males were asked to step from the vehicle, at which point officers conducted a pat-down and found a Norinco 9mm pistol tucked into the waistband of a 17 year-old male. The juvenile was placed under arrest for possessing a firearm. (114654)
*6/13/19 7:48 PM Frankstown Avenue & N. Homewood Avenue Arrestee: Darwin L. Parker, Jr, 24, of Homewood Summary: *Plainclothes officers were patrolling the area around Frankstown Avenue & N. Homewood Avenue in response to resident's complaints of open-air drug sales at the intersection. Officers spotted Darwin L. Parker, Jr, 25, of Homewood, enter a Saturn Vue at the intersection. Officers know Parker and were aware that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for Robbery. Officers conducted a traffic stop and took Parker into custody. These same officers have arrested Parker twice in the past several months at this same intersection and knew Parker to conceal crack cocaine in his buttocks. The officers asked Parker if he had any drugs concealed on his person and warned that if he brought any drugs into the jail, he would be charged with Contraband. Parker denied possessing any drugs and was transported to the Allegheny County Jail. Once in the jail, during his intake search, corrections officers recovered (6) knotted plastic bags of crack cocaine concealed in Parker's buttocks. In addition to the charges stemming from his warrant, Parker was also charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine, Intent to Deliver Crack Cocaine, and Contraband.
