[Highland Park] Computers: is it possbile to scan...

I thought that maybe the computer wizzes out there might be able to answer a question for me: Is it possible to take a sheet of paper with hand-written content and scan it into the computer and have it end up in type-face? In other words, if you had say, hand-written letters that you wanted to publish as a book, rather than type them in, could you scan them in but have them appear type-written? I doubt that the technology has advanced this far but I thought it was worth asking. Many thanks. --
