Dear Highland Park Neighbors, I work with 25 English as a Second Language refugee families living in Lawrenceville in a Family Literacy program (adult education, parent education, parent and child interactive activities, and early childhood education) through Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council. We collaborate with Pittsburgh Public Schools, Carnegie Libraries, Beginning with Books, America Reads, Literacy AmeriCorps, and Tania Grubbs (music educator). We are fortunate to be opening our own site for the families in August. At this point we can afford the basics to setup our classroom. But to make this a comfortable learning environment for the whole family I am seeking donations of specific items. GPLC is a non-profit agency, so donation receipts are available. If you would like to discuss this in more detail, please feel free to phone me at 412.441.4967/412.889.9651. Thank you so much!
