A perimeter was established and a K-9 team was called to the scene. Officer Rummel and K-9 Bane arrived and cleared the store. Officers learned that a cash register and (3) cartons of Newport cigarettes had been stolen. As they were leaving the store, officers noted a dirt path on the side of the building and found a trail of coins leading to Idlewild Street. The officers followed these shiny metal breadcrumbs all the way to an abandoned building at 7218 Idlewild Street. Upon entering the structure, officers located *Bryan Keith Eleam, 59, of Garfield.* Eleam told officers that he was just "getting high," except that he was still also in possession of a cash register and (3) cartons of Newports. Eleam was arrested and charged with Burglary. The stolen items were returned to the owner of the store. (102286) *5/27/19 Robbery - 2200 block Wilner Drive, 2:06 PM. *Two victims, ages 8 and 12, reported that they were walking up Wilner Drive with their red Next bicycle when they were attacked from behind by a *known juvenile male, age 15,* *of East Hills,* and several of his teenage friends, then physically removed the bicycle from him. When a group of adults intervened, the teens fled without the bike. Responding officers viewed security camera footage and verified the victims' version of events. Officers also recognized the 15 year-old suspect and know him by name. Officers will obtain an arrest warrant for the 15 year-old and detectives are working to learn the identity of the others. The 12 year-old victim sustained facial swelling and bleeding from his ear. (101806) *5/28/19 Homicide (Shooting) - 7300 block Forest Way, 10:49 PM. *Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert, indicating one shot fired in the 7300 block of Forest Way. Officers arrived to find an unknown male victim on the ground, deceased from a gunshot wound. The Violent Crime Unit (VCU) is handling this investigation. (102985) *5/29/19 Theft from Vehicle - 6900 Bennett Street, 2:30 PM. *Victim came to Zone 5 to file a theft report. She told the desk officer that she went to her property on Bennett Street to serve a tenant with an eviction notice. When she returned to her car a short time later, a money pouch containing cash, bank cards, and two cell phones was gone. No signs of forced entry into the vehicle. (103435) *5/30/19 Aggravated Assault (Baseball Bat) - East Hills Drive & Wilner Drive, 1:40 AM. *Officers responded to a fight and arrived to find a 23 year-old victim with a laceration to her forehead. The victim stated that her neighbor, *Markeyta Daniels, 20, of East Hills, *struck her with a baseball bat. Daniels was still on scene and was arrested. (103841) *6/1/19 Shots Fired - 500 block N. Dunfermline Street, 4:45 AM.* Officers were on patrol in Homewood when they heard 10-15 gunshots in the area of the 500 block of N. Dunfermline Street. Moments later, ShotSpotter activated, indicating (11) shots fired in front of 558 N. Dunfermline Street. Officers arrived to find a parked (unattended) green Chrysler station wagon with bullet damage. As they continued to check the area, officers found a house in the 7400 block of Tioga Street that appeared to have bullet damage to the front window of the home. Officers knocked at the door to check on the occupants, repeatedly yelling "Pittsburgh Police." There was no response. In order to make sure there was not a shooting victim unresponsive inside the residence, officers entered the home and conducted a protective sweep. They were met by a male and female who demanded to see a warrant. Officers explained that they were not there to search the home, but rather to make sure nobody had been shot. The residents told the officers to "get the f--k out" and refused to provide officers any information for a police report. After making sure there were no victims inside, the officers cleared the scene. (105535) *Larimer / Lincoln-Lemington* *5/24/19 Theft from Vehicle - 1300 block Pointview Street, 6:00 AM. *Victim heard a loud noise and went outside to find that someone threw a brick through the passenger side window of her car. A book bag containing dentures was stolen. The suspects fled before the victim made it outside. (99340) *5/26/19 Theft from Vehicle - 500 block Lowell Street, 2:00 AM.* VIctim reported that her black Ruger .380 pistol and $200.00 cash were stolen from her unlocked vehicle. (101338) *5/28/19 Theft from Vehicle - 6900 Churchland Street. *Victim returned to his vehicle to find the contents ransacked. Nothing was missing. Vehicle may have been left unlocked. (103674) *5/29/19 Theft from Vehicle - 7100 block Ross Garden Road. *Victim reported that someone entered her vehicle overnight but did not steal anything. No signs of forced entry. (103186) *5/29/19 Theft from Vehicle - 7100 block Tilden Street. *Victim reported that someone entered her unlocked vehicle overnight and stole a change purse containing quarters. (103275) *5/30/19 Theft from Vehicle - 7000 block Churchland Street. *Victim reported that someone entered his car overnight and stole his Pelican camera bag containing his camera and other photography equipment, valued at $1,000.00. There were no signs of forced entry into the vehicle. (103316) *5/31/19 Shots Fired - 500 block Lenora Street, 6:18 AM.* Officers responded to a ShotSpotter notification, indicating (5) rounds had just been fired in front of 557 Lenora Street. Officers arrived on scene and found shell casings in the street but no victims or damaged property. (104701) *6/2/19 Burglary - 1300 block Missouri Street. *Victim left his residence around 11:00 AM and arrived home around 3:00 PM to find the window A/C unit had been pushed into the living room. Upon inspecting the interior of the home, the victim found the following items had been stolen: A large jar of coins, jewelry, a jewelry box, and medication (pills). (106573) *Bloomfield / Garfield / Friendship* *5/27/19 Theft from Vehicle - 100 block Stratford Avenue. *Victim reported that someone stole his Ruger .380 caliber pistol from his unlocked vehicle sometime over the past two weeks, but he is unsure exactly when. (101651) *5/29/19 Aggravated Assault (Vehicle) - 5100 block Liberty Avenue, 12:10 PM. *Officers were dispatched to a hit & run of a pedestrian and arrived to find the 31 year-old male victim conscious and alert. The victim told officers that a short time earlier he was walking into the post office with packages in his arms, when a female, later identified as *Elizabeth Noel Morrison, 27, of Avalon, *exited the post office, flinging the door open and striking the victim in the process. In doing so, Morrison knocked all of the victim's packages to the ground. The victim told Morrison that she was rude, to which she confirmed the sentiment by stating "F--k you." After dropping off the initial packages, the victim went back to his car to retrieve another load. As he walked back towards the post office, the victim encountered Morrison in her vehicle in the parking lot. When Morrison saw the victim, she continued yelling and cursing at him. As the victim was walking through the driveway of the post office, Morrison accelerated towards him and struck the right side of his body. The victim rolled onto the hood of Morrison's vehicle, then fell to the ground. Morrison then reversed her vehicle and proceeded to drive over all of the victim's packages that fell to the ground when he was struck. Independant witnesses at the scene confirmed the victim's account of the incident. While officers were awaiting paramedics, Morrison returned to the scene. She was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault by Vehicle, Criminal Mischief, and Vehicle Code violations. The victim was not seriously injured. (103332) *East Liberty / Highland Park* *5/27/19 Theft from Vehicle - 200 block N. Negley Avenue. *Victim returned to her vehicle this morning to find papers scattered about and some change missing. No damage to vehicle. Victim was unsure if she locked her car. (101761) *5/28/19 Theft from Vehicle - 200 block S. St. Clair Street.* Victim reported that someone broke her rear passenger side window and stole her Garmin GPS. (102348) *5/28/19 Theft from Vehicle - 6000 block Jackson Street.* Victim reported that someone entered her vehicle overnight and stole a Vera Bradley tote bag, sunglasses, and other personal effects. No signs of forced entry into vehicle. (102714) *5/28/19 Theft from Vehicle - 300 block Amber Street.* Victim reported that someone broke his rear passenger-side vent window overnight and stole cash, credit cars, sunglasses, and his driver's license. (102698) *5/29/19 Theft from Vehicle - Highview Street & Springer Way. *Victim reported that she left her vehicle parked with one window cracked and the doors possibly unlocked for about one hour while moving some boxes. When she returned, her wallet containing her credit cards and (2) laptops were missing. (104068) *5/29/19 Robbery - 400 N. Highland Avenue (Home Depot), 10:00 PM.* Officers responded to a robbery-in-progress and arrived to meet the 38 year-old male victim in the parking lot of the Home Depot. The victim told officers that he was supposed to meet a female, known only as "Brandy," in the Home Depot parking lot at 10:00 PM, to purchase several iPhones from her. The victim indicated that he and "Brandy" arranged this deal through the use of the "Offer Up" app. When the victim arrived at the Home Depot, an unknown black female (presumably "Brandy") got into his vehicle. Moments later, an unknown black male approached the driver's window and pointed a gold firearm at the victim. The male suspect demanded all of the victim's cash and he handed over $2,300.00 and his car keys. Both the male and female suspects got into a blue Ford Fusion (partial license plate 8212) and fled the area. The victim was not injured. (103753) *Morningside / Stanton Heights / Waterworks* *5/28/19 Overdose - 1100 block Morningside Avenue, 1:00 AM. *Officers responded to a report of a heroin overdose and arrived to find a 28 year-old male conscious and alert. Officer's learned that the man's father found him and administered Narcan prior to the arrival of police and paramedics. The male refused transport to a hospital. Highland Avenue Arrestee 1: Samuel Frederick Gould, 36, of East Liberty Arrestee 2: Douglas Paul Frantz, 40, Unknown address Summary: *Zone 5 plainclothes officer Chris Joliet was on-duty and working on an unrelated investigation in the area of Baum Boulevard & South Highland Avenue, when he was approached by two men, later identified as Samuel Frederick Gould, 36, and Douglas Paul Frantz, 40. Frantz had a pillowcase slung over his shoulder and asked Officer Joliet if he wanted to buy some power tools. Officer Joliet's keen detective senses told him something was awry so he asked where Frantz got the tools. Frantz replied that he just acquired them and they were brand new, still in the box. Officer Joliet walked around the corner with the pair, when they opened the pillow case to reveal (2) Dewalt drills with the Home Depot labels still attached. At this point, Officer Joliet knew the men were attempting to sell stolen goods so he identified himself as a police officer. The pair took off running, but Officer Joliet's partners were close by and both were quickly apprehended. Frantz was found to have (7) prior convictions for Retail Theft. Gould had outstanding warrants for his arrest. Both men were arrested and the stolen property was returned to Home Depot. (104250) *6/2/19 10:30 AM 1200 block N. Homewood Avenue Arrestee 1: Craig Cully, 39, of Cresson (PA) Arrestee 2: Tamara Nicole Englander, 34, of Windber (PA) Summary:* Officer Mosesso was on patrol in Homewood when he observed a 2011 Nissan Altima driving in the 800 block of Sterrett Street with an obstructed windshield. A traffic stop was conducted in the 1200 block of N. Homewood Avenue, at which point the driver was identified as Craig Cully, 39, of Cresson, PA, and the front passenger was identified as Tamara Nicole Englander, 34, of Windber, PA. As soon as the vehicle pulled over, officers observed Englander lean all the way forward in hear seat and make movements consistent with an individual attempting to either hide or retrieve an object. Both occupants were asked to step from the vehicle, at which point officers saw (2) bags of suspected methamphetamine in a brown purse on the front passenger floor area. A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers found additional bags of methamphetamine, a digital scale, drug packaging materials, and drug paraphernalia. Both Cully and Englander was arrested.
