Neighbors, You are welcome to attend Shady Side Academy's annual Untucked festival this Saturday, May 14, featuring Pittsburgh's own Rusted Root! This year's event, which benefits refugee services in Pittsburgh, kicks off with a family carnival at 4 p.m., followed by the concert at 6 p.m. in the McKnight Hockey Center on the SSA Senior School campus. Rusted Root is a great band and this is a very worthy cause. Tom Dickson Buy Tickets Today: Advance tickets are $20 for adults and students, and $7 for kids 10 and under. At the gate tickets will be $25 for adults and $10 for kids. Purchase tickets online at www.ssawebstore.com. Advance tickets ordered before Thursday at 3 p.m. will be delivered to SSA schools on Friday. Tickets ordered after that point will be held at will-call at the main gate of Untucked. Family Carnival Begins at 4 This year's carnival will feature awesome inflatables, karaoke, an arts & crafts area, student bands, a deejay and carnival food from local vendors including the Franktuary, Conflict Kitchen, The Goodie Truck, Little Athens Catering and Holy Smokes Barbeque. Rusted Root Concert Begins at 6 Rusted Root was founded in Pittsburgh and is known for its unique fusion of acoustic rock, world and other styles of music. The band's second album, When I Woke, went platinum in 1995, and it's most popular song, "Send Me on My Way," hit No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100. Its mission is to support local and international charities while providing a fun-filled community event. Over the past eight years, Untucked has raised more than $80,000 for charities such as Neighborhood Academy, Best of the Batch Foundation, Gilda' s Club and Global Links, while featuring concerts by well-known bands including The Clarks, Better Than Ezra, Sister Hazel, State Radio and Arrested Development. The Untucked students have worked tirelessly this year to fundraise, plan and publicize the carnival and concert. They also have spent time volunteering with Nepali refugees in Pittsburgh.
