Dear Neighbors: Please be aware that your car is not safe. My Jeep was stolen off North Highland Avenue, directly in front of my house, in the early morning hours this Sunday. It was recovered nearby in Homewood less that 24 hours later, but not before it was crashed into a utility pole, totaling the Jeep and knocking out power to four square blocks. No one has been apprehended. Although the Jeep was locked, the thieves were able to make off with the vehicle by simply breaking a back window and starting the ignition with a screw driver. You may wish to consider augmenting your vehicles security with a club or other anti-theft device. Thank you to Muzz Meyers for recovering and returning the contents of my glove compartment, found tossed out on Browning Road, and thank you to the Pittsburgh Police for quickly finding the stolen vehicle.
