Hi all, YouthPlaces, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing recreation and enrichment activities to underserved and at-risk youth in the city of Pittsburgh, is operating a summer program at Peabody High School. This program features an 18-and-under co-ed basketball league, plus arts, recreation and field trips. The activities are Monday - Thursdays at the Peabody High School basketball courts on Highland Ave. If you have or know of a young person who might be interested in this activity, you can contact Barnett Harris for more information: Barnett Harris Peabody High School Site Director YouthPlaces phone: 412 670-7453 email: bharris@youthplaces.org Web site: <http://www.youthplaces.org/> Also, I am working with some Highland Park volunteers to design summer programming for at-risk young people in our neighborhood. Though the YouthPlaces program described above is certainly an option, we are also looking into special programming at a site in Highland Park. If you would like to learn more about this initiative, would like to volunteer, or have a child who might benefit from a Highland Park-specific summer enrichment activity, please free to contact me: Michael Johnson Highland Park Community Development Corporation phone: 412-268-4270 email: johnson2@andrew.cmu.edu Web sites: Highland Park Community Plan - <www.highlandparkcommunity.com> Highland Park Community Development Corporation - <http://www.highlandparkpa.com/org/hpcdc/> Thanks for your attention!
