Try calling Ron Cerniglia on Mellon Street; he's our neighbor. Did some good work for me a few years back. He's listed in the phone book & does give free estimates in writing-- last I knew.
We had new storms/screen (and a storm door) made for our original windows by this company. They did a good job, very nice company. Insulation wise, not as good as getting replacement windows, I'm guessing, but these were casement and french door type windows that are kind of nice to keep aesthetically. The storms/screens can all be taken in/out from inside. I think on double-hung windows they probably do that kind that you just slide the storms and screens up and down and don't need to take anything in or out but we didn't have any of that kind done.
Matt Helbling replicated some interior woodwork for us as part of a larger project. We are very pleased with the result. Matt does excellent work and so his services are in high demand. we ended up using Frank Leonardi, whom we absolutely LOVED. He is a truly skilled craftsman, and really does a great job (both in communicating and in the carpentry work itself). We can't wait until we have more projects because we really love him and want to employ him as much as possible. I've heard from others that he can get busy and it may take some time for him to get to you, but that was not my experience (we had a small job that he was able to do on rainy days during his other big deck project).
