If you have thistles growing and want to eradicate them, cut them with scissors right at the soil level. Do not dig them out. This is a tip from Doug Oster, the garden expert. It seems that thistles underground, grow in a row and if you dig one up, another just pops to the surface. I have had success cutting them just where they emerge from the soil. Hope this tip helps.
