[Highland Park] TV/VCR/DVD Setup

Hi, Once again we turn to the HP list for help. This time it's a setup issue. We have FIOS as our cable provider and are happy with the HD picture we are getting on our TV. The problem is that we can not use our DVD/VHS player. I've tried different wiring setups without success. So, if any one knows someone who can figure it out we would appreciate hearing about them.
