For several years now our neighbors of Seeds of Hope Fellowship have been working to expand their "Earthen Vessels Outreach" ministry especially with children and youth in the Bloomfield and Garfield neighborhoods with the restoration and renovation of a derelict building at the corner of Pacific and Friendship Avenues. Early on a team of adults and youth from St. Andrew's contributed several Saturdays of "sweat equity" with the clearing of debris and the creation of some useful space for initial activities, and we have through several special offerings and outreach grants been able to provide a bit of financial assistance. All of us in the wider community of neighborhood and mission partnership have been invited to an open house for the completed first floor of the new space, named "The Pacific Sanctuary," this coming Friday, March 30, from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. "Take a tour of the new building, meet our staff members, and learn about the positive changes EVO is making and how they are impacting the lives of families and youth living in Pittsburgh's East End." We continue of course to remember our friends the Rev. John Paul Chaney, Marilyn Chaney, and all the good people, staff, and congregation of Seeds of Hope and Earthen Vessels Outreach in our best thoughts and prayers.
