The vehicle was unlocked with the key under the floor mat. There was no license plate on the car. (86152) *5/7/19 Male Shot - Bricelyn Street & Madonna Street, 3:13 AM. *57 year old male victim told officers that he was shot in the leg by an unknown assailant. Officers could not locate a crime scene and received no calls for shots fired. The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Detectives are investigating. (85966) *5/8/19 Search Warrant - 7300 block Kelly Street, 6:00 AM. *Zone 5 plainclothes officers obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 7300 block of Kelly Street, following a drug investigation. PGH SWAT assisted in the service of the warrant as officers had reason to believe that firearms may be present inside the residence. The warrant was served just after 6:00 AM and five individuals were found inside the home. A silver Smith & Wesson .40 caliber pistol was found in the bedroom of a 17 year-old male, along with marijuana and drug packaging materials. Officers learned that firearm had been reported stolen. *A male juvenile, 17, was arrested*. He was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Minor, Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm), Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession with Intent to Deliver. The other four occupants of the home were released. (75220) *5/11/10 Theft from Vehicle - Frankstown Avenue & Tyson Street. *Victim reported that a Ruger 9mm pistol was stolen from her Jeep Wrangler while parked at the intersection. No damage noted to the car. (89687) *5/12/19 Theft from Vehicle - 7100 block Mt. Vernon Street. *Victim reported that someone stole a phone charger out of his Jeep Renegade. (90425) *5/12/19 Overdose - 7300 block Frankstown Avenue. *Officers responded for an unresponsive male and arrived to find that the individual had just been revived with Narcan. He was taken to the hospital by paramedics. (90135) *5/12/19 Overdose - Frankstown Avenue & N. Homewood Avenue. *Officers patrolling the area were flagged-down for an unresponsive male. Officers gave the male several doses of Narcan and he was taken to he hospital by paramedics. (89456) *Larimer / Lincoln-Lemington* *5/6/19 Shots Fired - 300 block Lowell Street, 11:27 PM. *Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert for multiple shots fired in the area. A witness told officers that they saw a dark sedan with tinted windows in the area, which sped off at a high rate of speed immediately after the shots were fired. There were no reported injuries or property damage. Officers collected several spent shell casings from the street. (85845) *5/6/19 Theft from Vehicle - 6700 block Rowan Street.* Women's clothing was stolen from the trunk of a vehicle overnight. No signs of forced entry into the vehicle. (86550) *5/7/19 Aggravated Assault (Domestic) - 600 block Lenora Street, 1:04 AM.* Officers responded to UPMC Shadyside Hospital to meet with the victim of a domestic assault, who arrived at the Emergency Room with significant facial injuries. The 25 year-old female victim told officers that her boyfriend, *Albert Castaphney, 30, of Larimer,* had been assaulting her ever since his release from jail on April 23rd. The victim went on to state that Castaphney punched her, kicked her, and struck her in the face and legs with a blunt object, and this behavior continued over the period of a few weeks. Officers observed serious facial injuries and hospital staff confirmed that the victim sustained a fractured orbital and a fractured jaw. After speaking with the victim, officers went to Castaphney's residence in Larimer in an attempt to take him into custody. Upon announcing their presence, Castaphney appeared in a 2nd floor window and attempted to flee from officers. Castaphney jumped from the roof to the ground and started to flee on foot, when an officer deployed his taser, striking Castaphney in the buttocks. He was quickly apprehended and taken to the Allegheny County Jail after he was medically cleared at a local hospital. Castaphney was charged with Aggravated Assault, Strangulation, and Possessing Instruments of a Crime. (85831) *Bloomfield / Garfield / Friendship* *5/8/19 Theft from Vehicle - 500 block Edmond Street. *Victim's unlocked vehicle was ransacked overnight. Nothing appeared to be missing. (86917) *5/8/19 Carjacking - 5500 block Columbo Street, 12:09 AM. *A 60 year-old male victim reported that he was sitting in his parked vehicle when he was approached by two unknown males, one of whom brandished a black Glock pistol. The males threatened to kill the victim, striking him in the head with the firearm, then removing him from his car. The suspects then fled in the victim's 2019 black Cadillac SUV. Approximately 45 minutes later, officers received a notification from OnStar that the vehicle was parked in a lot in the 100 block of N. Negley Avenue. OnStar locked the doors and disabled the ignition. Officers located the vehicle and towed it for forensic processing. The victim refused medical treatment. (86675) *5/10/19 Aggravated Assault - Penn Avenue & Stratford Street. *Officers were dispatched to a report of a fight. A bus driver told officers that she was assaulted by a student. The student kicked the bus driver then began pulling out her braids. Officers observed braids on the ground, a large scratch on the victims face, and swelling on her head. The *female juvenile *was arrested at the scene. (88730) *5/10/19 Overdose - 5400 block block Kinkaid Street. *Officers responded to an overdose and arrived to find that the victim's roommate had already administered Narcan. Paramedics transported the individual to the hospital. (89157) *5/11/19 Robbery - 4828 Penn Avenue (New Chinese Spa). *Officers responded to the New Chinese Spa for a report of a disorderly female. The victim reported that a female came in begging for money. When she was told to leave she grabbed a cell phone from an employee then began emptying out drawers at the front desk area looking for money. The suspect then fled the store. The suspect is described as a black female, 50-55 years of age 5'7", 175-180 pounds, short black hair, wearing a black leather jacket. (89872) *East Liberty / Highland Park* *5/7/19 Burglary (Domestic) - 5400 block Stanton Avenue, 1:49 AM. *Officers responded to UPMC Shadyside Hospital for a male in custody on a PFA violation. When officers arrived, they learned that the 65 year-old female victim and the suspect, *Earnest Sloan, Jr, 55, of Wilkinsburg,* arrived at the hospital together. According to the victim, she and Sloan are estranged. She arrived home this evening and found Sloan inside her residence. Sloan was in possession of a roll of duct tape and told the victim that he was going to "take her somewhere." The victim told Sloan that she was ill and needed to go to the hospital first. Sloan drove the victim to UPMC Shadyside, where the victim alerted UPMC police of the incident. UPMC police detained Sloan and called Pittsburgh Police. Officers learned that the victim has an active PFA against Sloan. A search of the Sloan's vehicle yielded duct tape, zip ties, a crow bar, and sleeping pills. Officers placed Sloan under arrest and charged him with violating the PFA, as well as new charges, including: Burglary, Possessing Instruments of a Crime, Terroristic Threats, and Criminal Trespass. (85928) *5/8/19 Burglary - 300 block N. Negley Avenue. *Victim arrived home to find signs of forced entry into his residence. His gaming systems and MacBook laptop were missing. (87460) *5/10/19 Burglary - 10 block Moga Street.* Officers responded to an alarm in the 10 block of Moga Street and arrived to find the front door forced open. The house was cleared and found to be empty. The homeowner arrived while officers were on scene and the only thing noted to be missing were multiple pairs of Nike Air Jordan shoes. (88723) *5/10/19 Robbery / Burglary - 500 block N. Euclid Avenue. *Victim reported that he heard a knock on his door and when he opened it a female who had been staying at his home for a few days began punching him the face. The female known only as "Monica" then came into the residence, along with an unknown female and male, and took the victims' cell phone and three shop vacs. The suspects then left the area. (88795) *Morningside / Stanton Heights / Waterworks* *5/8/19 Aggravated Assault - 972 Freeport Road (Dunham's Sporting Goods), 1:00 PM. *Officers responded to a medical call and arrived to find *Erin E. Francis, 35, of Sharpsburg,* who appeared to be highly intoxicated and shaking. Francis was yelling at people coming and going from the store. Officers called EMS and explained to Francis that they were going to get her medically evaluated. At this point, she stood up and attempted to physically assault an employee exiting the store. Officers placed themselves between Francis and the employee, at which point Francis assaulted an officer and had to be subdued. Once in custody, officers took Francis to the hospital for treatment and will file for an arrest warrant for her. Cogdell, Jr, 37, of Larimer* *Summary:* Officers were patrolling Homewood when they conducted a traffic stop for a Vehicle Code violation. Cogdell was the only occupant of the vehicle. While officers were speaking with him, they could see the handle of a firearm protruding from the seat. Cogdell does not possess a valid license to carry a concealed firearm and is further prohibited from possessing firearms based upon his criminal history. Cogdell was placed under arrest and the Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol was seized. (85162) *5/7/19 4:23 PM Rippey Street & N. St. Clair Street Arrestee: Darius L. Rush, 28, of McKees Rocks Summary:* Officers Nesser and Haule were on patrol in East Liberty when they saw a black Nissan SUV with heavily tinted windows commit a traffic violation, then quickly pull into a parking space. The officers ran the license plate and found that the registration expired two months ago. The officers walked up to the vehicle as the driver was exiting. The driver was identified as Darius Rush, the sole occupant of the vehicle. When Rush exited, officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. A search of the vehicle yielded a loaded Taurus .40 caliber pistol, 130 stamp bags of heroin marked "Lucky 7" in red ink, a bag of marijuana, and just under $3,000.00 cash. Additionally, Rush was found to be driving under suspension. He was placed under arrest and charged with felony firearm and drug offenses. (86357) *5/10/19 5:30 PM 1200 block Paulson Avenue Arrestee: Juvenile Male Summary:* Officers were taking a report for a stolen vehicle with the keys left in the ignition when it was learned the car was in the 1200 block of Paulson Avenue and several juveniles were seen exiting the vehicle. Officer Conner arrived on scene and began chasing the individuals on foot. Other officers arrived on scene and one suspect was quickly placed into custody. Officers were able to view video footage showing the male in custody as the driver of the car.
