Changes to Healthy Rides & loss of Highland Park station

Hi Neighbors, There is good news and bad news about Health Ride bikes. The good news is that the system is being upgraded in 2022, including a complete equipment replacement (all new stations and bikes), and the introduction of e-assist bikes (bikes with electric motors). The bad news is that when they remove the old stations, they will not be able to replace them all at once, and the Highland Park station at Stanton and N. Negley is one of the stations that will not be replaced in the near term. The N. Negley and E. Liberty Blvd station will also be removed and not replaced. As a result, the closest station will be in East Liberty - see the attached map for details. The goal of Bike Share Pittsburgh to consistently expand year over year and bring back more stations to the neighborhoods and connect new communities to the bikeshare network. Free Play Sand and Lava Rocks

I cleaned out a garage for someone, and there is over 100 pounds of play sand that I do not need, but is not garbage either. There are two 50-pound bags (unopened) and a 5-gallon bucket with loose play sand. If you think you can use this sand, let me know. It was kept in a garage, so was not rained/snowed on, although the bags sat on a damp floor. There is a bag and a half of red Lava Rock that is used for landscaping also. I think it might cover about 4 square feet. They are currently in my truck, so they do not need to be lifted off of the ground (I did that once already). I would be willing to drop them off in the Highland Park area. Let me know if you need sand or red landscaping rocks. Hello Neighbor (https://www.helloneighbor.io/) is a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit that works to improve the lives of recently resettled refugee and immigrant families by matching them with dedicated neighbors to guide and support them in their new lives. Hello Neighbor will be resettling up to 250 refugees, immigrants and Afghan Humanitarian Parolees in the upcoming year. In support of its ongoing work, the Highland Park Community Council is again partnering with St. Andrew's for a holiday collection for Hello Neighbor. Hello Neighbor has asked for Cleaning Welcome Kits for their new families, and has specifically requested: - All-purpose cleaner spray - Dish soap - Bathroom cleaners - Kitchen cleaners - Laundry detergent - Sponges or cleaning cloths - Paper towels - Tissues - Trash bags Donations can be dropped off now through Jan 9 in the bin on the porch of the parish house at St. Andrew's, 5801 Hampton Street.
