The noises you described were a result of the Training Academy instructing the new recruits pursuit driving. I spoke with the supervisor and they will notify me of future trainings that will extend late into the evening. I in turn will send out an FYI email. RaShall M. [Highland Park] HPCC Meeting Thursday 2/17/05

Hello All The Highland Park Community Club meeting this Thursday is going to feature an update on all the projects going on in the Park. We will be hearing about the Babbling Brook, the Welcome Entry Fountain and Garden, and Heth's Run. We will also find out what is going on with the Reservoir, which includes the promenade and slopes. This is what I am looking forward to hearing about the most, since I hear there are major changes planned. This is an exciting time in our Park, and there is a lot of activity going on to make it the best park in the City. You should plan on attending this meeting, as a lot will be discussed about the Park, and you will want to know all about it. The meeting will be at St Andrews Church, 5701 Hampton Street, starting at 7:30 pm. All are welcome to listen and comment on the restoration of Highland Park. See you Thursday. Bob Staresinic

Hi all - I'm a Highland Park resident and the parent of a second grader at Dilworth. I've started an initiative at the school to provide creative alternatives for indoor recess (the "default" activity in the PGH public school system, apparently, is to show the kids Disney movies in the auditorium...) In any case, I've been helped by an able group of parents, and we've been doing games and crafts with the kids. By all accounts, it's been a great success. Here's where I need your help. I would be interested in purchasing/receiving as a donation board games in good condition (appropriate for the 5-10 set), assorted Lego pieces, and Lincoln Logs from area residents. Hi Folks, Taj Mahal business is really slow still. If you like Indian food, this is one of the best Indian restaurants in Pittsburgh. When ownership changed from Sitar to Taj Mahal the food was not that good. I was very disappointed. However, now that the transition phase is over, their food is excellent. The cooks are the same cooks that work at the North Hills Taj Mahal which has been voted Best Indian restaurant for multiple years. The owners are really nice as well. Get to know them. I'd hate to see one of our newest businesses get discouraged and close down. I think it is a privilege to have a great restaurant within walking distance. So please stop by more often and spread the word of our great local Indian restaurant! Thanks, Jorgen Pedersen
