Hello Highland Park and Friends! We need a couple people who would be willing to work at the polls at Fulton School on Hampton for the primary on May 17th. It would be an all day committment. I am unable to help due to my working on one of the mayoral campaigns : ) The only requirement is that you are registered to vote in the City of Pittsburgh...you don't need to be a resident of the Ward or District. [Highland Park] Free Children's Concert, Friday, 3pm

Neighbors, The Baltimore Consort will perform a free community children's concert of popular music from the 16th and 18th centuries on Friday, May 6th at 3pm for area families, seniors at Vintage, and students from River Valley School at the Vintage Senior Center (enter on Rippey St. across from Home Depot -- door on porch). You are most welcome to join us! Hear the true story of the blind Dutch musician and composer, Jacob van Eyck, who played the recorder and would wander happily improvising songs and dances he heard in the town of Utrecht. Brad and Tom at Food Glorious Food now have a Saturday bakery at their location on Bryant Street from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm (or they run out of things to sell!) My wife & I were there this past Saturday for the first one, and it was great... They'll do special orders any day of the week, also. [Highland Park] Weekly Walks in the Woods

Please join me and fellow Highland Park neighbor Jessica Pedersen for a walk through the park this Wednesday evening from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. This free walk, sponsored by the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, will take us on about 1.3 miles of trails and paths in the park. Along the way, we'll talk about what's going on in the park, including the beautiful restoration of the fountain area at the Highland Avenue entrance of the park, and the challenges of managing non-native, invasive plant species in the park. We'll meet near the fountain at 6:30 pm--please be a couple of minutes early if possible. Dress appropriately for a walk in the "woods"--there will be mud, thorns, and uneven paths. The walks in Highland Park will occur on the first Wednesday of each month from now until October. There are walks scheduled for the other three Pittsburgh parks on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Wednesdays of the month too. Rudy
