I am planning for a longish bike trip with my son, and would like to try out a BOB Yak trailer on the trip before I buy one. Does anyone in the neighborhood have one that they would like to rent for a few weeks in early to mid July?

[Highland Park] Tonight's HPCC Meeting

Hello neighbors – Yes, it is that time of month again to have our Highland Park Community Council Board Meeting and Presentations. We have had a really large amount of questions concerning the rebuilding of the track around the upper reservoir, so we have the director of the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority, Gregory Tutsock, talking about the upcoming work. He shall be talking about what areas will actually be involved in the construction, as well as the potential time table. This will be affecting those who walk and jog around the track, as well as the noise volume up there during their work. Please understand that this is improving an area of our neighborhood’s draw, both for our residents, as well as from other neighborhoods to the Highland Park area. We will also have Toye Starver from the Union Project talking about their future applying for a liquor license there. I have been asked to pass on some stats on crime in our area, as well as concerns from another neighborhood nearby with the building of a halfway type of housing right on the borders of Highland Park. We shall start at 7:00 PM with the Board Meeting, so should you come in later than that please be considerate of the people presenting on projects that they are working on. The Presentation on the track should be around 7:30 PM, with the Union Project talking around 8:00 PM depending on the involvement and questions on items brought up earlier. Hope to see you there !!! [Highland Park] Roving Art Cart Mosaic Mural TOMORROW at the Farmhouse

Dear Neighbors – I have been asked to pass on this opportunity for our neighborhood children to be part of making the future mosaics that will be put up on the wall along One Wild Place above Kid’s Kingdom at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium. This will allow people to actually help build the different mosaics that will be mounted on the wall after the completion rebuild that has already started. Public Works has already removed the old sidewalk and installed a storm sewer on the part of the road coming up around the bend. The wall shall follow suit, with the mosaic to be installed after all the work is completed. Citiparks is scheduling several dates for people to get involved, just like to tent that they set up at the Sweet 16 Rededication Ceremony for the Super Playground on Sunday, 09 JUN 07. Two dates have been listed below for the Farmhouse here in Highland Park to get the local kids (Yes, those young at heart can participate as well) involved in the making of a future landmark here in Highland Park. [Highland Park] Grey's Anatomy

Do any of you nice neighbors out there have the 3rd season of Grey's Anatomy on tape or DVD that we could borrow.? My husband and I decided to start following the show ... late... and we have rented and watched all of season 1 and should finish season 2 in a day or two. The problem is that season 3 will not be available to rent until September 11 and we were hoping to catch up in the slow season of the summer and be ready for season 4. ABC only shows the last 4 episodes that have just aired, and I want to watch the story in order. I am collecting what they are showing now, but it's going to take a while. I could buy it on itunes, but I am trying to downsize and don't really want to keep all of those episodes and they are $2 a pop. Plus, from my previous experience with iTunes, I haven't been able to get the closed captions, and it really helps us to have them. If you can lend this to us, we'd be very appreciative, and I promise we'll take good care of it and return it promptly. Sherry Goldman

Along with six other East End Churches, Hosanna Industries Inc., and East Liberty Development Inc., they are rehabbing eight houses for eight local families (think Extreme Home Makeover!). Houses have already been completed at 624 Collins St., 5807 Hays St., and -- this week -- 520 North Fairmount is under construction. Recently, a new family and home was approved for rehab beginning next Tuesday, June 26th. The project will run from Tuesday through Saturday. If things go well, the family can actually move in on Saturday evening! The Blitz Build needs 40 volunteers for Tuesday, 30 volunteers for Wednesday, and 20 for each of the remaining days. NO experience is necessary! (though it certainly doesn't hurt). Workday begins at 9am. Lunch is provided. A combination of grant money, church money and home mortgages are making the dream of owning a home a reality for families who might not otherwise be able to make the move to home ownership. Hello, Neighbors - I am looking for recommendations for asbestos abatement contractors because we have two very small pieces of "asbestos looking" insulation on a vent in our basement that we have to either have removed or encapsulated. So far I have received quotes from Key Asbestos and Gray Waste Management. Do you have any comments about these contractors or suggestions for others I should consider? Thank you, Jessica Pedersen
