[Highland Park] Bald Eagle sighting

While crossing the Highland Park Bridge yesterday, friends of mine spotted a Bald Eagle in the trees in the park!!! WOW, I would give anything to see one of those!!! I will keep my eyes to the trees!! I heard someone else had seen one on Heberton a while back. I am amazed. Please let me know if anyone else is seeing these guys. Thanks, Marty Harkins

Like many others in the neighborhood, I was shocked and upset to learn of the shooting at Walnut Market on Friday. I would like to get some kind of dialog going on this issue. I can think of a couple of things that the community could consider: a.. Extend any support or help we can give to Michael. b.. Help pay for a surveillance camera in the store. c.. Consider hiring security guards for the Bryant Street business district. d.. Revive the Block Watch system on Bryant Street. Several years ago some of us patrolled the area to discourage drug traffic. I'd appreciate any responses to these ideas. Al Mann 412-661-5947

From Sunday's PG: ---------------------------------- "The owner of Walnut Market in Highland Park remains hospitalized after being shot in the face Friday morning during an apparent robbery attempt. "An employee of the Bryant Street market, who would not give his name, said Michael Eydinov's wife called yesterday afternoon to say her husband, 59, was doing better. "No arrests have been made in the shooting." ----------------------------

Anthony Coccia of "Anthony's Original Italian Ice" died a few months ago, so sadly this will be the first summer in a long time during which we won't see him near the park entrance with his Italian ice cart. Hey, everyone. My husband and I are going out of town for a couple of weeks over Christmas/New Year's and are looking for a pet sitter for our eldest, Seymour. Seymour's a very easy and sweet Llasa-poo and would need walking 2 times a day and some play and petting time.
