We were told by some neighbors on Elgin Street that their cooper downspouts were stolen last week too. Sounds like it might of been the same culprits. --------------------------------- You rock. That's why Blockbuster's offering you one month of Blockbuster Total Access, No Cost.

Dear Neighbors – We too have been on the receiving end of some uninvited guests. On Wednesday evening, 26 MAR 08, five of our downspouts were removed from our house while we were at the airport picking up our Nephew. On Thursday morning my wife found elbows that had been dropped on the front porch. These people did not look for a place to steal in the darkness, but from the front and along the alley of our home were there are street lights. They obviously were not quiet from the parts and pieces that were left behind, but they did not get the attention of any of our neighbors. Total value for their efforts will be around $33.00 in scrap, but should we replace with the same, it would come to several hundred dollars, but less than the deductable on the home insurance. If you hear or see anyone around that you do not know, just make your presence known, but do not confront. Alert your neighbors because these people do not want people around. Take notes and call the police. Our neighbors all have been in contact with us, and it is truly comforting to know that we live in such a nice community, even when such things happen to us. This is to alert our neighbors that there has been a theft of copper down spouts from two homes on the 1100 block of North Sheridan. For one homeowner, this was the second time in recent months that they have had a down spout stolen. A report is being filed with the police. [Highland Park] Street Cleaning has started

April starts the time period for street cleaning in the City. This is what the signs say, so be aware of the days of the week that your street is scheduled to be cleaned. Although they don't clean the streets every week that the signs say (it is the first and third Thursday of the month on my street), that one time you forget is when they will actually come, and then you get a ticket. I like to move my truck from in front of my house on street cleaning days, since that gives me a chance to sweep the street. I don't have much faith in our street cleaners, since even when they do show up, I have to get the broom out to make the street clean. Bob

Unfortunately, an apple tree had to come down at 6406 Jackson St, and is still in the front yard. The owner would be happy if anyone would help themselves to the potential firewood and/or help clear the yard. Thanks
