Garfield Farms is what we're calling a new initiative between The Open Door, Valley View Presbyterian Church, and Open Hand Ministries to develop a small urban farm in the Garfield neighborhood and promote home gardening for Garfield residents. With a global food crisis looming, the poor and disenfranchised will have even less access to healthy organicly grown produce. Some time Saturday morning my elderly cat escaped from my home on North Saint Clair between Stanton and Hayes. His name is Grendel, and he is a black and brown longhair tabby. He is very small and thin, and at 17 years old he has arthritis. He is afraid of strangers so you may not be able to capture him, but if you see him, please email or call 412-760-3975. [Highland Park] For sale: vintage bricks 25 cents each

I have about 1100 red-toned bricks that came from the four chimneys of a friend's Shadyside house, built in 1908. I got these with the intention of building a patio, but now my plans have changed and I'm moving out of town. Bricks can be purchased as a lot or bought in small batches. I took most of the mortar off already but buyer might want to powerwash them. Cash only; purchaser must arrange to move bricks. (I moved them here in my car but it was a lot of trips!). [Highland Park] need help with stolen items

Dear neighbors, This morning we discovered that some boxes intended for storage were stolen out of our car (odd, because the car was locked and there's no sign of entry and the alarm didn't go off). The stolen items have virtually no monetary value but they were of significant value to us. One smallish box held my husband's photos and slides; another larger one held some artwork done by my sister. Boxes are likely labelled "Frank" or "Sue" on the outside. I'm assuming the thieves will just throw these away, so if anyone has seen them please let us know - 412 512 9151 or 412 363-7977. Thanks so much, Sue
