Hi all, Does anyone have a swingset or one of those plastic playsets for the yard that they are looking to get rid of? [Highland Park] Magazine Donation

Neighbors, I am a Highland Park visual artist who will be doing an Artist's Residency at The Youth Development Center in New Castle. YDC provides a residential program for adjudicated young men between the ages of 12 and 20. During the summer, in the context of a Restorative Justice and Community Arts project, I will work with 12 students who will study drawing, design, art history,etc. Our culminating project will be the design of two outdoor sculptures; one for a garden at YDC and the other, a donation to a local non-profit organization. Restorative Justice encourages offenders to engage in gestures of apology and generosity to the community. The class is in need of pictorial magazines, especially art and design magazines and copies of National Geographic. I am asking for donations which I will gladly pick-up. Allyson J. Hi Everyone, I just wanted to alert you that there have been a couple of cars in the 5500 block of Wellesley Avenue in the past week or so. Mine was broken into last night and my satellite radio, along with my cell phone charger and iPod dock were stolen. [Highland Park] Community Festival at the Union Project, Sunday June 1

The Union Project will host a Community Festival on Sunday, June 1st from 9am until 3pm. The free festival will feature live musical performances, space for 50 craft vendors, kids craft activities, and a chance for neighborhood connection. Located on the corner of Stanton Ave. and Negley Ave. in Highland Park, the festival will take place in the Union Project's outdoor side yard. The Community Festival is held in conjunction with the Highland Park Yard Sale, which stretches across the neighborhood. Eat UP Café will be open with breakfast/lunch specials, and $5 ceramics seconds sale will also be taking place.

[Highland Park] Lost Cat Update

Our cat Stuey is still missing, but I think we have a better idea of where he might be. I just got an e-mail last night from someone on King St. who saw an all black cat in her backyard and I was talking to neighbors on my street and one little girl said she saw a black cat turn onto bryant in that direction, so I can't be certain that it's Stuey, but its a definite possibility. I just walked down there this morning shaking a bag of treats and calling his name, but he didn't turn up. I'm going to conduct a more thorough search tonight after work, but please keep an eye out for him in that area.
