Neighbors, I am a Highland Park visual artist who will be doing an Artist's Residency at The Youth Development Center in New Castle. YDC provides a residential program for adjudicated young men between the ages of 12 and 20. During the summer, in the context of a Restorative Justice and Community Arts project, I will work with 12 students who will study drawing, design, art history,etc. Our culminating project will be the design of two outdoor sculptures; one for a garden at YDC and the other, a donation to a local non-profit organization. Restorative Justice encourages offenders to engage in gestures of apology and generosity to the community. The class is in need of pictorial magazines, especially art and design magazines and copies of National Geographic. I am asking for donations which I will gladly pick-up. Allyson J.
