Hello all, I have a collection of 144 vintage Christmas light bulbs for sale. The colors are white, blue, and green. The bulbs sit in wooden holders that sit in shoe boxes. Fresh brewed and whole bean coffee will be available at the market. Kew Park Coffee is being brought to you directly from the farm by the Lagnese family from Highland Park. The coffee is roasted and shipped directly from Jamaica to Pittsburgh on a weekly basis. It does not go through a distributor or wholesaler, and thus does not sit on a shelf in a warehouse. Freshly made juice is also available at the bar. This week will feature fresh squeezed Valencia orange juice, and freshly made cranberry juice. The East Liberty Farmers Market operates year round and is open every Saturday from 5 am until 12 noon. The market is located behind Home Depot. The East Liberty Farmer’s Market has been a part of our community since 1947! The market features a great variety of locally grown and made items including meats, fruits and vegetables, bread, eggs, cider, cheese and much more. The Kew Park Story Kew Park Estate is a well-known coffee estate located high in the hills of the parish of Westmoreland, in Western Jamaica. Coffee has been grown on Kew Park for over 200 years. Currently, a total of 35 acres of Arabica coffee is grown at Kew Park, and is widely regarded as among the best Jamaican coffees. The coffee farm is part of a larger 2,200 acre farm that features citrus and other fruits, as well as beef cattle, pigs, chickens and hardwood tropical trees—all grown and raised using sustainable methods. The farm also specializes in the production of essential oils and aromatic fragrances. Kew Park was granted one of the first “Estate Grown Coffee” designations issued by the Jamaican Coffee Industry Board. The Estate Grown Coffee status allows Kew Park to process and market the coffee both locally and for export. Neighbors, After seeing a post inquiring about FSBO opportunities in the neighborhood and also based on our desire to have an owner-occupant as a neighbor, I am passing around a very affordable opportunity next door to us. Please spread the word. 840 Heberton St. is a townhome for sale by owner, but not actively being marketed/listed on the multi-list. The owner is actually a realtor who usually deals with commercial properties. He's been a landlord who, in our experience since 2005, has generally been a rather average neighbor since he's been rarely seen or heard from, but has had a very friendly family as tenants. And as much as we've enjoyed having them as neighbors, regrettably, they have moved and now we'd much rather have a homeowner living next door who actually wants to invest in the property like we have been investing in ours. We purchased our home, also a former rental, and have spent several years making moderate, consistent improvements and are very happy with the results now. The same would be required of 840 Heberton, since the tenants never had any incentive to make improvements themselves. I think he is asking $120,000 but I believe that is based on our neighbor who bought a renovated townhouse with the same layout for $96,500 in 2005 and two other neighboring homes that have either sold or been recently listed above $200,000. A motivated buyer with evidence of financing would be in a position to negotiate successfully, I believe, but as a heads up, he is actively taking applications for rental tenants. [Highland Park] Port Authority Board approves route and fare changes

Neighbors, Just passing along. Please note that this is the Port Authority's verbiage - not mine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pittsburgh, PA – Port Authority of Allegheny County approved plans today, Friday, October 23, 2009, that will bring sweeping changes to its route system and fare levels starting in 2010. The Authority’s Board of Directors approved changes to its bus and light rail system that will be phased in over the next two years. The first route changes would start in March while fares will adjust on January 1. Details of the changes are available on the Authority’s Web site (http://tdp.portauthority.org ). The plan will result in routes providing improved levels of service to the vast majority of riders. By cutting duplication and underused routes, Port Authority is able to add trips, increase hours of operation and simplify its service. Comments received from riders, groups and employees have prompted the Authority to modify the initial proposals for 27 routes. Those changes are also detailed on our Web site. The proposal does not cut the overall level of service offered today nor would it require eliminating operating positions. The changes also improve efficiency, which places Port Authority in a position to meet strict rules established by Act 44. This assures the agency is able to receive the maximum amount of state funding available each year. With regard to fares, the $2 base fare in Zone 1 will not change. The Authority has scaled back its initial proposal for Zone 2 to $2.75. The initial proposal would have set the fare at $3. This change was made in response to numerous comments from Zone 2 riders during the recent public comment period. Details of the fare changes are also available on Port Authority’s Web site. Now, the Authority will develop a plan to implement the changes in phases, targeting one area at a time. Riders will be made aware of upcoming changes and provided with information to help them adjust.
