An Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts and Education at the University of Northern Colorado, Ms. McNally teaches courses for both undergraduate and graduate students in theatre education. She recently directed ¡Bocòn! and Holes and served as the supervising director for the 2008 touring production of Tomato Plant Girl. Her writing has been published in Stage of the Art and Theatre for Young Audiences Today. Ms. McNally has extensive experience particularly with underserved, low-income populations in some of this country's most harshly economically challenged cities. Ms. McNally also served as the Resident Teaching Artist for People's Light and Theatre where she created the Professional Development Program for teachers. "Adapting the Classics" invites students to delve into the great masterpieces of literature to make their own discoveries and conclusions. Using Brown University's ArtsLiteracy Project (www.artslit.org) as a model, Shakespeare-in-the-Schools' Teaching Artists will lead students through the process of exploring and dramatizing classics using writing exercises, improvisation, creative drama, and text analysis and comprehension strategies. The ArtsLiteracy process makes classical works relevant to today's students. Shakespeare-in-the-Schools' "Adapting the Classics" residency enhances students' literacy development through creativity and drama techniques based on challenging texts such as William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings or any work of literature from the school curriculum. Residencies typically consist of 12 sessions based on a text chosen from the school curriculum. They are preceded by joint planning meetings where the teaching team creates the unit by exploring the text and themes. [Highland Park] bathtub reglazing recommendations and comments

Thanks to everyone who responded! Your remarks and recommendations are very helpful. If I get any more responses I'll pass them on. Janna Eversmeyer Our friends had their tub re-glazed and they complained about how toxic a process it was and the inconvenience of needing to be out of their home for two days. If it's an option for you, we just had a Re-Bath done that looks great and didn't require us to be out of the house at all, nonetheless, I ran the ceiling vent fan and left the window cracked when it wasn't too chilly: http://www.rebath.com/ Very honest guy who will give you a fair deal. We had a contractor do some other work and used the tub to put boards on. Now it needs to be redone. We used Miracle Method almost 4 years ago and the tub still looks really good. It was in unusable condition when we bought the house and they did a fantastic job. With three little boys we're not exactly careful with it, either! We highly recommend Avalon Tub and Tile: call Bob at 412 583 8737 We've had them do multiple projects for us: superior work, perfectly done, and always a good bit less expensive. They're now doing our master bath as we speak. By far the best renovators we've ever dealt with. Yep!! we did it .. tub & all the tile. Also It depends on the material that you're reglazing...we did a marble...sink...grey & ugly...we've done it 3 times just to keep the old sink...it doesn't work very well. If its an old tub and really special..YES!!!. If it just for cosmetic..you may find a new tub is just as cost effective. We've had the sink done for the 3rd time about 4 years ago and it needs it again...The first time we did it ..it was the tub, sink and the entire bath tiles it must have been 15 or 18 years ago..It still looks ok...but its beginning to deteriorate. If I were you I would do a search on HGTV's web site for it. I've seen it come up on there and they might give tips, ideas of reasonable prices, etc.

Hi Neighbors We are planning a trip to Hilton Head this summer and are trying to figure out where to stay. We are looking for either a 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom condo near or on the beach and a nice pool with a kiddie pool. A playground nearby would be great too. Alos, it would be wonderful if we could be within walking distance to shops, resturants, etc... My kids will be 3 yrs old and 8 month twins.Thanks for your help! Becky

We still have a large wood library table for sale. It is 6 feet long, 3 feet wide, 2.5 feet tall. An older table but very sturdy. Neighbors, The Neighborhood list has served Highland Park for over 7 years now and has grown to include more than 1400 subscribers. The community volunteers running the list (hi, Bob!) hope you all find the list useful, but with so much activity on the list there will always be something posted that you are not interested in. Or perhaps there are too many messages cluttering your inbox. If you're not happy with some aspect of the list, please take one of the actions listed below. But first, let me tell you what NOT to do: please don't report a list posting as spam or junk. Why not? Well, when you do that, your mail provider can take actions that affect all of their users who subscribe to the list, not just you. They might even share the report with other mail providers, affecting even more subscribers. I mention Yahoo, because right now they are delaying all messages from the Neighborhood list. They give the reasoning that they have received "too many complaints". While I have asked them to stop delaying the messages, they are unlikely to stop for long (if at all), since all it will take is for a couple of users to hit the "spam" button again. Here's what you CAN do: * Delete the message(s) you don't care for. It's the simplest option and no one else will be offended! * Use the filtering capabilities of your mail program or provider to move lists posts to a folder other than your inbox. The specifics of how to do this vary from mail provider to mail provider. The list does however identify itself as a mailing list in special headers that many filtering systems can use automatically. And of course the words "[Highland Park]" occur in each subject line in case that's your only way to identify the list. * Switch to a digest subscription if you want to receive fewer mailings. Multiple posts will be sent in each mailing, resulting in fewer messages. * Unsubscribe if you have moved, are no longer interested in the postings, etc. * Write to neighborhood-owner(a)highlandparkpa.com for assistance. We can't guarantee instant response (we're volunteers, remember? :) but will try to help you. Every message sent through the list also has a link at the bottom that takes you to a page of information about the list (including its broad policies) and an interface to login to manage your subscription. [Highland Park] Farmers Cooperative Market of East Liberty Update

Update for Saturday May 1st Join us for an Olive Oil Tasting! For the past 6 months we have been bringing in coffee to the market from the Kew Park coffee farm in Jamaica. This “direct from the farm” concept is great because it provides consumers an opportunity to buy something really high quality and fresh. It also supports the farmer because it puts more money in their pocket by eliminating the middle men involved in the traditional distribution system. Recently I have been researching expanding this concept to another one of my favorite foods- olive oil. I have focused my attention on growers in California. The industry in California has come a long way over the past two decades. The industry is still developing and evolving, but California is now producing oils that are as good as the ones we get from Italy and Spain. The good news is that there are many small farms that are producing great oil. I have been corresponding with quite a few farms and they are really excited to be introduced into the Pittsburgh market. I plan to buy the oil in “bulk” and dispense it into reusable glass bottles. To get the process started, I am hosting an olive oil tasting this Saturday at the market. We will be featuring oils from 3 farms- · Corto Olive- located in Stockton · Sylverleaf Olive Oil- located in Loma Rica · Pasolivo- located in Paso Robles It will be helpful to get feedback from people to help decide which oils to carry at the market *************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Riverview Dairy- I visited Sam Byler at his farm in Emlenton this week. I had a great time and was really impressed by what I saw. When I got there around 6:00 in the evening, Sam was busy doing the second milking. The goats were just wonderful and seem to have a great life. The operation is very clean and organized. The goats feed on grass in the fields and grain. I was very impressed by the sustainable practices that Sam uses in the operation. He uses a wood burning boiler to create heat for the cheese making process. He also uses huge blocks of ice that he cuts from a local pond to chill the coolers where stores the finished cheese. I got an advance look at some new cheeses that Sam is developing by forming wheels of cheese using molds, and then aging the cheese. He hopes to have them at the market in July. Zang’s Greenhouse- Rick will have some fresh locally grown salad greens. He will also have ramps again this week, which are a wonderful delicacy available only a few weeks a year. Near local (New Jersey) Swiss Chard will be at the market. Greenawalt Farm- will have fresh eggs and other items. Kistaco Farm- Local apples and cider are still available. Kew Park Coffee- Thanks to everyone who turned out to meet Peter Williams from Kew Park Estate Coffee Farm. Peter just loved meeting everyone and hearing people share stories of how they love his coffee. People seemed to like the French Press brewed coffee so we plan to continue making it at the market.
