Please see attached photo for Union Project's 9th Annual MLK Jr. Day Celebration. The event is free and open to the public. I hope you will help us promote this unique community event. * Hundreds Flock to Union Project this MLK, Jr. Day* Join us on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, (Monday, January 17th, from 4-8pm at Union Project) and bring Dr. King’s dream of the Beloved Community to life by making your own unique ceramic bird ornament as part of Union Project’s ongoing 1,000 Birds Project. This year as part of UP’s annual celebration, we invite you to be part of a special photographic mosaic, which will document the diversity of our inclusive community and serve as a reminder of the day. Light instruction will be provided by UP artists, staff and volunteers, and participants can choose their own bird ornaments to take home from over 1,000 birds already made by hundreds of community members at after-school programs, drop-in centers, nursing homes, and in UP’s ceramic studio. Lisa Kelley, Recreation Therapist at Vintage Senior Center, said that “working with the Union Project artists was such a magnificent experience for the participants of Vintage Adult Day Services! It was simply amazing to see their creativity flourish as they molded and formed the clay into tiny, beautiful birds.” A photographer will take photos of all participants’ hands holding their birds. The photographs will later be arranged into a photographic mosaic to be exhibited at Union Project and featured on UP’s website alongside past community art projects. Past projects include last year’s stunning MLK Day Beloved Community Mural (created by over 100 participants of all ages - see attached photos) and UP’s stained glass window restoration project that taught over 300 community members the art of stained glass restoration and allowed community hands to help complete and install nearly all of UP’s 155 original stained glass windows. Hi neighbors, My friend has a daughter whose husband is in the Navy and has shipped out until September. She has a baby and a 4-year-old and lives alone in the San Diego area. She would like to move soon to the East End for six to eight months to be with family and friends. She would need a furnished place such as perhaps a professor on sabbatical would have. I bought some Ikea bathroom stuff for a remodel. Several months later into the project, the room design has changed somewhat, and now these items are too wide for the sink space. I am actually going to use the thinner (24" wide) version of the exact same things, but I am now stuck with these. too late to return them. if anyone is interested in purchasing any of this, let me know. all still in boxes, unassembled, all parts, etc, everything ... originally cost me over $425. It also comes with one microphone, and it has another jack for an additional mic if you'd like to perform duets. Unfortunately, we don't have a use for it. It would be perfect for parties or family fun. The only thing that it doesn't come with is an iPod. That's where you come in! We are asking $40 for the karaoke machine, OBO.
