[Highland Park] Concrete Deck Contractor

G'day Neighbors, Can anyone recommend a contractor who specializes in structural concrete work and repairs? My place on Jackson street has a 2nd floor porch with a concrete deck--exposed on both the top and bottom surfaces--and a signficant portion of concrete has broken off. I need someone qualified in assessing the structural integrity and making the necessary repairs (may be two separate jobs). Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks David DeLong

Thanks to everyone showing interest in my free books! Now I've got to sell the bookshelf. It's an Ikea pine shelf, 83" h x 38.25" w x 12.5" d. Very good condition. Asking $40. I also dropped the price for my 4-string epiphone bass. Like new (never played!). Black with some mother of pearl detailing. Comes with a brand new soft shell case. Totally great deal/priced to sell. [Highland Park] Final Call: Preschool Coop exploratory meeting Friday, July 8

As you may be aware, I am looking at setting up a preschool coop for 3/4 year olds starting this fall. Details are below. We are meeting this Friday, July 8, at 10am at my house. Heather Conrad +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ *(From the original email)* If you want to share this with anyone you think might be interested, please feel free to do so! *What I'm thinking (not at all set in stone, but a jump off point for discussion):* *Ages: *3/4 year old preschool for the fall. *Days and times: *Monday and Friday, 9-12 or so *Number of kids: *6 (not including any siblings of parents on duty) *Venue: *Switching from house to house for each day *Who's in charge: *we are. 2 parents at a time - one host and one helper. If someone isn't willing to host at their house, but wants to participate, my helper day could also be at my house (so it would meet at my house twice during a 3 week cycle). *What does that look like: *Persons A, B, C, D, E, F Monday Friday Week 1 A Host/D Helper B Host/E Helper Week 2 C Host/F Helper D Host/A Helper Week 3 E Host/B Helper F Host/C Helper So each person has 2 days on duty out of 6 days of school. If you are the host, but your family is sick, then your helper would host and we would have a backup person as helper. Unless someone has a better idea. Host and helper plan the activities for the day together. *What would the kids do: *Here is what some of us came up with earlier this spring when we met to discuss this. Again, not set in stone, just a rough framework to discuss. 9am: Free play and arrival time 9:45: Activity (painting, clay, some other sort of craft) 10:15: Outside/large motor play 11: Snack 11:45 Story/song time 12: Pick up *Cost: *$5/day that goes to the host for the purchase of classroom supplies and snack. That is paid each day so no one has to do treasurer duties. *Field trips: *One day a month (or two!) we go on a field trip where all the kids and parents go together. Responsibility for organizing this rotates. *Do we have to be there every day: *I think it would be great if everyone were (barring sickness), but if it worked better for your family to plan on missing some, as long as you are NOT hosting or helping, I think there should be a lot of flexibility on this point. On the other hand, the kids benefit from a more or less regular arrangement of peers. *So what do I want from you? *If I can find out that enough people are interested, I'd like us all to get together to discuss whether or not this really seems doable. [Highland Park] New adidas Copa Mundial soccer shoes for sale

I just bought a pair of adidas Copa Mundials, but after receiving them I discovered they're a half size too big. So before I spend the money to ship them back, I thought I'd see if anyone in the neighborhood wants a pair. I didn't wear them outside, I just tried them on inside then put them back in the box. They're size 10 and I'd sell them for $88. I looked for a long time, and believe me, you won't find a better price without shipping unless you go the risky ebay route. Plus this way, unlike me, you'll get the chance to try them on. Thanks! Ben

Hello everyone! A few months ago I moved to the neighborhood and must say, I love it! I wanted to make my services known, in case anyone had need of them. I've spent the last three years working in the Information Technology/computer repair industry, specifically working with home users and personal pcs. If you need any help removing a virus, installing new hardware, fixing small annoying issues on your computer, or if you just need help learning how to do something on the computer or getting software configured, shoot me an email! I assure it that it will be more affordable than driving to Best buy's Geek squad or to a similar computer shop and you get the added bonus of in home service! I also worked for a year in landscaping and garden as a hobby. I'd love to take on your yard and landscaping jobs as well, or any other odd jobs around your house. thanks! [Highland Park] NEED HELP with disputed verizon bill

HI neighbors, I'm writing for advice. Over a year ago I cancelled my verizon service (with much difficulty), but received a bill a few months later. I have called several times and been assured that the bill would be taken care of, but recently they have sent the bill to a (very rude) collection agency. I have tried to call verizon several times but have been disconnected or passed from one person to another, each denying the ability to help me. I have filed a complaint with the BBB (apparently Verizon does have a history of responding to complaints), but am wondering if anyone has ideas about what else I can do. I'm very worried that this is going to affect my or my husband's credit report. Also, anyone with Verizon, be warned. If they offered me FREE service I would not take it. Thanks, Meg
