Greetings! Thanks for taking the time to read this email. Currently, I substitute teach for Pittsburgh Public and the end of the school year is approaching fast. I'm looking for full-time babysitting work for the summer. Right now I babysit for several families and I have excellent references. I babysit bambinos from the age of 9 months to 10 years old. Also, since I'm a teacher I have current criminal and child abuse clearances. I'm a non-smoker and I have my own transportation. Feel free to drop me a line if you need help with your kiddos. Can you recommend a reliable exterminator? Last year, tiny red ants came onto the kitchens of our duplex - on the counters around the sinks. I checked Angie's List and hired a top-rated exterminator, Budget Pest Control. They treated, and the ants came back. Ditto a second time. When I called them a third time, they said they would treat, but that our warranty had expired - and we would have to pay to extend the warranty through the winter. I had done some research and found that these ants live in the ground and were not a problem in the winter. And they weren't - but they are back now. I'm not going to give those fools any more money. We have lived in this house since 1984, and last year was the first time we had this problem. I need a competent exterminator. One who will solve the problem. I'm normally a green person, but have no tolerance for bugs in my kitchens! Yuck! Email me, thanks, Jan McKeag

The City of Pittsburgh will help you challenge your County property reassessment. If you call 311, you can schedule a free one-on-one appointment with a City representative (mine was with a Duquesne law student from their law clinic) who will help you fill out your appeal form -- they will have a blank one for you -- and provide alternate comparables to the ones used for your reassessment. You can get a low-cost appraisal, subsidized by the City, that will cost you $125. And you can request an advocate to go to your appeal hearing for or with you. That person will meet you one half hour before your hearing is scheduled -- if you choose to go -- to discuss the strategy for your appeal. pat buddemeyer
