[Highland Park] Theft Thwarted

Around 4:30 this morning (6/19) my husband witnessed three men stealing our neighbor's motorcycle in the 1000 block of Sheridan. They were loading it into the back of a U-haul. He called 911 and the police responded quickly, the men were caught thankfully. Apparently these men are associated with multiple thefts in the last couple of weeks. Keep up the good work keeping an eye out and calling 911, we can all keep our neighborhood safe. Lisa

1981 Ovation 1116 Great instrument, plays great, sounds great. Built-in pick up, don't know what kind. Ovation brand label inside the body is missing. There are 2 cracks. One on the upper part of the body next to the neck. This one has been repaired but is still visible. The second one is located below the the bridge. and should at some point be repaired also. Repair cost $150. Does not present serious or immediate risk to the instrument and does not affect sound or playability. I am asking $200 firm. Axel

Dear Neighbors, I will be moving in a month and have a few things that I would rather not move: FREE -A homemade ramp made from a very large, weather-treated plywood board and two large (about 7 feet long) solid also weather treated wooden boards (about 2x10). Has anyone else received a ticket for parking on the right side of Collins Street? I've parked there without a problem for months but last night I received a ticket within 2 hours of parking my car. The ticket was for the fire lane violation and parking on the sidewalk, two things which at least one car is violating every minute of every day. Has anyone else had experience in fighting a ticket similar to this? I'll probably just pay it, but any input would be appreciated. Thank you! Pre-registration is over and camp is start, but we still have space for a few more children. Feel free to give us a call or come by and see us and sign your kids up! We're at the Evaline Lutheran Church building at Friendship & Evaline every morning from 8-9 to start the morning of camp and get kids signed up. More details below... If you want your children to have fun, meet lots of new friends, and participate in art, sports and academic activities in a safe and nurturing environment, register them for the Earthen Vessels Outreach Summer Day Camp 2012! This six-week day camp begins just after the school year is completed, from June 18th - July 28th. Families and friends are invited to attend the final program on Saturday July 28th at 5:00 PM. The camp site is located in the Friendship-Bloomfield area, easily accessible to the surrounding neighborhoods of Friendship, Bloomfield, Garfield, Lawrenceville and East Liberty. Last year, over 80 children were enrolled in the camp. The cost for six weeks is determined by a sliding scale ranging from $240-$340. Families may pre-register with a deposit of $75 per camper. Enrollment will be based on a first come first serve basis. Complete registration will occur at 7 PM. Friday, June 15th and 11 AM. Saturday, June 16th. Parents or guardians must attend one of these scheduled registrations in order to complete the sign-up process. 2/3 of the full camp fee is expected at the time of registration. When the camp enrollment has peaked at 80 children and/or the individual age groups are to capacity, there will be a waiting list for any child still wanting to sign up. Have a question?
