Doctors, Professors & Maharajahs - Tom Roberts 5434 Avondale Place Tom Roberts is an internationally acclaimed pianist and Emmy award winning composer. He will present the virtuosic piano music of New Orleans rhythm & blues legends Professor Longhair, Dr. John and the otherworldly James Booker along with choro, calypso, Harlem stride and even Louis Moreau Gottschalk. Tom was pianist and musical director for the late Leon Redbone, arranged and performed the music for Martin Scorsese’s film, The Aviator. He has performed multiple times at New York’s 92nd St Y Jazz in July, and The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. He has arranged for Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and also writes and performed the music for Rick Sebak’s Emmy award winning Nebby series for WQED TV. Haircuts

Hi neighbors, I have two little girls (ages 7 and 4) and they haven’t had their hair cut since February. We’ve been in full quarantine mode since March because my 4 year-old has Down syndrome and a heart condition that puts her in the high risk category. I can’t take it anymore. They need their hair cut. I’m appealing to our neighbors to see if you know anyone that’s been safely socially distancing and would be open to coming over and cutting my daughters’ hair in our backyard. Beautifully finished round cherry table/tabletop

We can't find a place for this lovely table in our house. It was in our breakfast nook (seats 2-3), then it was a cocktail table (with short hairpin legs), and it most recently served as a side table on our covered front porch. Polished, finely finished, thick cherry hardwood, 36in d Current hairpin legs make it 25 1/4in high. Legs could be swapped for a pedestal or shorter or taller legs of any kind. Excellent condition, the wood is very beautiful. Made locally by a fine cabinetmaker. $100.

Seeking Pre-K tutor for my 4 1/2 year old

Dear Neighbors, We are a family of two working parents, a 7-year-old (starting virtual 2nd grade at PPS Dilworth next week), and a 4-1/2 year old. As we enter the fall semester, we are seeking someone to tutor our younger child, who will not be participating in a formal Pre-K program due to the Coronavirus. We would like to find someone to come 3-5 weekday mornings per week, for 1-2 hours a day (likely starting at 9 AM). Our hope is to find someone with the ability to design and implement age-appropriate educational activities that align with PPS' kindergarten readiness indicators. No license or credential required, but someone with an early childhood education background of some type would be ideal. Your health and safety, along with ours, is important to us. We would like for the interaction to take place outdoors (either our backyard or covered front porch), with masks/social distancing in place.
