This is a high migration week. You can help protect any birds that pass through your region this week by turning off all non-essential lighting from 11:00PM tonight until 6:00AM tomorrow morning. Celebrate with us!!!! Next Friday September 22nd at 6pm! We’re going all out- BLOCK PARTY- in cahoots with Morningside Area Community Counsel! With their generous financial help, and securing the block party permit- We’re closing off the street, we’ve got a stage and Al Lucia’s hotdog cart will be there selling delicious treats. This will be such a fun night- featuring John Vento, Jim Krenn, Bob Zigerelli, Kevin McCarthy, Pam Hawley and Jim Hawley, Natalie Rogers, Emma Perman and myself….singing some great tunes from the 60’s, 70’s and even a few originals. Mysterious Sidewalk Markings

There have been pinkish peach colored powdery markings on sidewalks and asphalt around the neighborhood for the last couple of weeks. Does anyone know why they are there, who is painting or spreading them, and what is the composition of the material that is being used? I am particularly concerned if they are safe for animals to ingest. My dog recently had a scary intestinal episode and another neighbor mentioned that their dog did also. The background color is more yellow than appears in the pictures, but the other colors run true. It's a bit rumpled from careless storage, but will flatten out.
