Where can I donate technical/text books?

Hi all - I know all the libraries are closed but over the past several months, I have been boxing up books for donation and waited too long. Does anyone have information on where, if anywhere, I could take them? They are not "fun" books -- mostly medical and clinical texts, many of which are focused on prosthetics, orthotics, and rehabilitative medicine. Thanks in advance! Denise

Missing Small Gray Cat

Our little gray cat, Honeybun is missing. She’s not currently wearing a collar, but normally doesn’t wander far from our house near Hampton & N Euclid. She was last seen outside around 7 am on the 8th. Normally she is only out for only a couple hours at a time. We are worried her curiosity got her trapped in a neighbor’s house or garage, or that she was mistakenly nabbed by a passerby thinking she might be a stray. Beyond that, we are not sure what could’ve happened to her. A year and a half ago, she managed to slip into the garage of a neighbor who wasn’t living at their house and was trapped for a couple of days before she was rescued. Everyone on the listserv was so generous with their help and compassion when we reached out for help. If you can, please check your garages and cellars for her and let me know if you see or hear anything about a small gray cat. She is quite friendly, but was very timid and scared when she was last rescued.

Face Masks - why and how

*Per the CDC, it is critical to emphasize that maintaining 6-feet social distancing remains important to slowing the spread of the virus. **The CDC also recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings *where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others. Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used as an additional, voluntary public health measure. The cloth face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators. Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders, as recommended by current CDC guidance. *If you have N-95 respirators at home that you would like to donate to a healthcare worker, or homemade masks that you want to give to others in the community,* please post on the list serv of Highland Park Helping Hands Facebook page and someone who works in health care will reach out to you. Yard work/landscaping

Hello all, I'm a 23 year old looking for a little work on the side right now. I don't have professional references but have done yard work since I was a child. I can do anything from brush and weed removal, mowing/weed wacking, and other simple yard/ landscaping work. I have most equipment needed if you don't have it, I have a vehicle for transprtation and if you need mulch, I can pick that up as well. I'm typically available Monday and Thursday at the time being! Just a friendly reminder

As the neighborhood gets more comfortable with the new normal, I have been noticing that there is more trash thrown out onto the sidewalk and people with dogs are not being as diligent as they should be with cleaning up after their dogs. Please continue to be diligent and pick up after your dog and take your trash to a garbage can, not outside of your car door. Today, I slipped and fell while mowing my strip of lawn in between the sidewalk and street on a pile of dog poop. I sprained my ankle, hurt my back and instantly got a headache. Please continue to be courteous and pick up after your dogs. Thanks, Rad Sellner

Grey Car on N Beatty towards Jackson

Hi folks! The storm last night knocked part of one of the street trees onto our home/front porch. No damage, except to the tree. The Pgh crew came to take care of it today, but due to the size of the branch, they couldn’t work on because a grey car is parked too close to the tree. The car has a Bernie bumper sticker. If this is yours, can you please move it so that when they come back tomorrow, they can get the tree taken care of.
