I will send the responses that I have received to those of you asking to share them. Sounds like there are no free options right now in the city for collection or disposal. > Refuse Collection Continues on Good Friday; Springtime Yard Debris Pickup Cancelled > > PITTSBURGH, PA (April 8, 2020) Refuse and recycling collection by crews from the Department of Public Works Environmental Services bureau will continue as usual on Good Friday. > > All residents with a Friday collection day will be serviced as normal on Friday, April 10, 2020. Residents are reminded that all trash must be bagged in substantial, leak-proof bags tied up and without tears. > > The City of Pittsburgh has suspended curbside collection of yard debris and bulky waste. Any bagged yard debris and/or bulky items left out at the curb will be left behind by Environmental Services crews. > > Additionally, due to precautions for the crews during the COVID-19 pandemic, the citywide springtime collection of yard debris set for Saturday, April 25, 2020 has been cancelled. > Hi Maryanne, They did not pick up my bags either, so I visited the City's website and found that they are not picking up yard waste due to coronavirus. Glass, cardboard and mixed paper are collected at 31st Street for sure, but I didn't see a place for yard waste. It's kinda far, but you could try there. Hi Maryanne! I have the answer to this one! I called 311 and they told me nowhere in the city is taking yard debris right now, BUT there are a couple of places listed on the city website that you can pay to drop your stuff off at. The one I called, Michael Brother's Hauling, has a place is Reserve Township (which is right above Millvale - my sister lived there for a while, it's not that far away) and they are taking yard debris for $40/ton. So maybe go in on that with someone else or save it up. Beatty directly behind Obama where I take my yard bags and they seem happy to have it. There is usually no one there but if you walk in to the left there is a pile of leaves and often some bags as well an di just put my bags on the pile. My understanding is that the city has stopped picking them up for now. A few of the city drop-off centers remain open. I put my brown paper lawn debris bags in my car and drove them to the Strip District location which remains open. I spoke to someone there who told me that the no drop-off locations are accepting these lawn bags for the time being. Litter - masks and gloves

I wish we could do a better job at keeping used masks and gloves off of the sidewalks and streets. They are becoming more ubiquitous than candy wrappers and cigarette butts. Ironic that objects being used to keep us clean and healthy are ending up as a particularly disgusting form of litter. Sent from my iPhone

FYI - I drove over to Hamilton just to see if I should load my leaves into my car as some have suggested. It was locked up - at about 1:30 PM. I don’t know if there is yard debris collected at 31st street. And thank all of you for your responses! Maryanne
