Fwd: Elections to Send Mail-In Ballot Application to All Registered County Voters

This is a message from Allegheny Alerts. The Division of Elections today announced that staff is finalizing mailings to registered voters in the county containing mail-in ballot applications for the June 2 primary election. The mailing will include the mail-in ballot application and a postage-paid, addressed envelope to return that application to the Elections office. Voters are also encouraged to apply online for the ballot which also offers an opportunity to receive email updates on the status of the application and ballot throughout the election season. Information on how to apply and links to the online application can be found at alleghenyvotes.com. As of earlier today, over 71,000 absentee and mail-in applications have been received from Allegheny County voters. Food donations for Vintage Senior Center

My front porch is a neighborhood donation drop-off for donations for Vintage. We will be taking another batch of donations on Monday, so if you have anything you'd like to contribute, please bring it by this weekend. They are looking for non-perishables, in particular breakfast items (such as cereal & oatmeal), soups, and canned fruit/fruit cups - - they take any size but prefer single-sized portions. Composting Yard Waste - Resources to DIY

Hi, neighbors, Just wanted to share some resources for how to manage your yard waste on your own. It is not difficult. I'm assuming that if you have yard waste, you have a yard. All you really need to do it to find an out of the way spot and start piling your yard waste there. The smaller you break it up, the better. This is the lazy person's way to handle it. I did this for years before I started to compost my kitchen scraps and if you can just forget about the pile for a while (maybe plant a screen of sunflowers or put up some other sort of screen around it) then you will have compost to spread on your yard the following spring. My neighbor just dumps all of his yard waste up at the top of the hill behind his house (his property) and it is out of the way, and providing nutrients to the soil up there. I don't think he even re-uses it. Nanny available

Hi Neighbors, I am a former nanny and preschool/daycare teacher. I was a full-time nanny for 6 years prior to going back to school. I am a law student at Duquesne and will be done for the semester on May 8th. I expected to be working for a law firm this summer but I do not have a job now due to coronavirus. The good news is: I get to hang out with babies again! I would love to find a family whose daycare is closed for the summer. I have lots experience with newborns on up. I have excellent references that I can provide. I do live with my mom while I am in school and she is immunocompromised with lupus, so I am extremely careful about social distancing and could only work for a family who takes that very seriously as well.
