To the Highland Park Community, THANK YOU for the wonderful support you are providing to Vintage and the seniors in our community. I thought you would like to see what Vintage is providing to older adults in need in our community. The frozen meals on the right in the photo are part of the County’s meal program, but we know people need more. Thanks to your generosity Vintage is able to give each senior who needs supplies - food and basic necessities to get them through this difficult time. The Vintage team is making regular calls to all they serve to make sure everyone gets what they need. An extra special THANK YOU to Stephanie Walsh for offering her porch and being the point person for continued donations and coordinating the delivery to Vintage. This free service is available to area residents over age 18 by video and/or phone. Neighbors in Need

Dear neighbors, I want to make you aware of a small fund, Neighbors in Need*, that is making crisis grants to persons and families left jobless by the COVID-19 crisis. The grants typically range from $150 to $350, depending on family size and circumstances. The intent is provide funds to help buy food, medicines or toiletries for those in need until the stimulus program kicks into gear. We are confining the grants to people living in the 15224, 15206, 15201 and 15232 zip codes. We are not using NIN for delinquent rent or utility shutoffs. The city has established its own initiative for city residents only, the Housing Stabilization Program at the U.R.A. Free lettuce, onions, avocados, and limes in front of house

Hello Neighbors, I procured an excess of the above items today and have plenty to share. The limes and avocados are loose. The avocados are ready to be used now. The lettuce is in large vacuum packs, is restaurant grade, and are both plain chopped romaine and mixed veg with romaine. Please help yourselves. Please DO NOT open the packages for smaller portions. Re: Planning to Canning April 1 RK Rachel Kudrick To: Tami Prine While we will not be meeting in person, we can still talk about the great things about spring, and give ourselves something to look forward to. From Planning to Canning will be offered online starting on Wednesday, April 1st, with a class on companion planting. There will still be 2 sessions available, 9:30-11:30 am and 6:30-8:30 pm. We all want our gardens to be productive, efficient, beautiful, and fun. Companion plants help us to create that with a lot less effort then we'd otherwise have to use. Some plants just go together naturally, while other plants really don't get along. Whether you're using onions & garlic to keep insects away from your prized tomatoes, or planting flowers throughout your garden to aid in pollination, you're taking advantage of plant companions. This class will talk about the many benefits that plants can offer one another. Pollination, insect control, beneficial nutrients, and improved environment are just a few. We'll learn about plants that are natural friends, like carrots, basil and tomatoes, but we'll also learn about plants that really don't like one another, like potatoes and pumpkins. We'll survive why, and how best to take advantage of those relationships. So, if you want to make sure that your garden is as productive as possible in the space you have available, be sure to join me for class this week. You will need to download Zoom. City Parks *facilities* are closed. This directive includes playgrounds (the virus can linger on equipment) and basketball courts and ball fields (people have been using these amenities and not following social distancing guidelines). The press release does not mention tennis courts but it is quite possible that they will be closed and nets removed. The parks are still open for walking, hiking, bicycle riding, and other activities so long as social distancing guidelines are followed. *Published:* 03.30.2020 *Contact:* City of Pittsburgh Announces More Social Distancing Restrictions PITTSBURGH, PA (March 30, 2020) The City of Pittsburgh is closing its basketball courts and overlooks to further enforce the social distancing rules necessary to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. While Pittsburgh residents have largely been following directives to stay at least six feet from others to stop the spread of the virus, others have not, especially in City parks. Parks are remaining open, and residents are encouraged to use them to promote physical activity. But beginning today Public Works crews are removing basketball rims from courts, and closing off the Mount Washington overlooks. Those areas were commonly filled over the weekend with residents who were not following social distancing rules. Group sports are not permitted in City parks. In addition to closing basketball courts, Public Safety officials will be monitoring soccer fields and other play areas to make sure social distancing rules are being followed. One soccer field in Riverview Park has already been closed. Playgrounds have already been shut down, but some have continued to let children use them: residents are reminded that park equipment and playgrounds may not be safe, as the COVID-19 virus can live on surfaces for days. Residents should also maintain social distancing when using park trails, which have been extremely crowded in recent days. Public Safety officials are increasing efforts to encourage responsible behavior. Park Rangers and Police are patrolling parks more closely to provide reminders of proper social distancing, and Public Works is posting more signs to remind park and playground users of closures. Residents are further reminded not to share food with Public Safety and other City personnel. While such offers are clearly being done with the best of intentions to show support for workers in these trying times, the risk of spreading disease among the City workforce is too great, and residents are encouraged to donate to food pantries instead. Staying at home, practicing social distancing when outside and washing hands are important parts of the fight against the global COVID-19 pandemic. looking for old/used clothing

Hello Neighbors! I am a fashion designer (I live in Highland Park and have my design studio in Lawrenceville) and during this time at home, I have begun to work on a new fashion collaboration with another Pittsburgh fashion designer, Nicole Obrien. Nicole and I are going to be creating new clothing out of old/used clothing, upcycling/recycling to help keep clothing out of landfills. So I thought I would ask here, if people are going through their closets and dressers now and have old clothing that they like to get rid of, I would happily take them off your hands. During this “stay at home order”, I would follow all the social distancing guidelines to pick up the clothing. I'm able to walk or ride my bike around the neighborhood to pick up bags of clothing that would be left out (curbside preferably) in trash bags (or i would drive by on my way to the park to take a walk if there were multiple bags). I would then take all the clothing home and wash them immediately before sorting them. Anything that can be used to create new items, I will start to prep them as much as I can at home, getting them ready to work with when I can go back to my studio. Anything that we can not use, we will bag up and donate to Goodwill when it is safe to do so. Items we are specifically looking for now are: Jeans/Denim, Mens dress pants, men’s dress shirts, jersey knit or other knit shirts. We can take anything, but those items are particularly useful. Items DO NOT need to be in great shape. We can work around: tears, holes. missing buttons, ripped seams, broken zippers and missing items, etc... We will be able to harvest the useable parts of the clothing to make something new and exciting. If you have any questions, or if you’d like to give us your old/used clothing, please send me an email and I can answer you questions and/or set up a time to pick up bags of clothing. Free succulent groundcover

I don't know what it is. It arrived a few years ago and I've used it to anchor soil around the edges of our garden. It spreads like crazy but the roots are shallow so it's easy to pull out. It has pretty yellow flowers when it blooms. There are several boxes of it on our front steps at 1315 N. Sheridan
